Morris and Forndran shaving brushes

It seems that Mr Lee Sabini is now the owner of this company and its releasing new shaving brushes. One of them is made with "blonde badger" hair, which it seems like a normal two band badger. Here in the States are sold by classicshaving.com ( http://www.classicshaving.com/catalog/i ... 455548.htm ) with a really attractive price, but they looks like a copy of the Rooney 1 style series.Have anybody tried one of these brushes? Are they sold in UK too? I haven't found any UK online retailer who carries this brand so I was wondering if this is just a brush made for the USA market.

Lee Sabini tends to prefer selling his newer stuff through USA websites, including several of the Rooney ranges and these M&F brushes. So anyone over here has to bear custom charges, extra shipping costs and delays. A bit strange for a brand name that emphasises it's English origins. But each to his own.

The M&F brush is interesting. It's described as Super Badger with bristles made from Finest Best Badger. For those of us who take an interest in these things that is odd. Super in a Rooney is a term used to describe the resorted and redressed silvertip - top of the range. Rooney uses the term Finest to describe the rare breed of badger hair they no longer supply. Best badger is the more humble Rooney grade. So the M&F hair will remain a mystery until we get a review. The handle isn't a mystery. It's the Rooney Style 1.

Takes my mind off the cricket.

I bought mine from Sabini direct a couple of weeks ago. It's labelled blonde badger to add further confusion, it's very similar to Simpsons 2 band, a bit whiter, a bit softer possibly. I thought it wasn't dense enough for me initially but with a very pointy shaped knot and 49/50 mm loft it's a soap monster and I'm enjoying it a lot.

That was the one I had on mind to buy it.
It seems that youre liking it a lot.How would you compare it to your other shaving brushes?
Thanks man!

I am liking it a lot, as I understand Morris & Forndran was a company that Rooney had purchased and Sabini is reviving the brand name.

As for the brush, the knot (24/50) is a little larger than the NF2201 and the tips are beautifully soft, I have a few Simpson 2 band brushes and they vary but this is definitely comparable. As with most two bands it's firm enough to munch on a soap and dense enough to give a very nice face feel yet with enough flow through to be a bit of a lathering demon actually. The handle and livery is excellent and a pleasure to use. My brush has a 49-50 mm knot, I've read of others being larger and seen others with of a different knot shape. I'd stick to pointy bulb and 50mm loft as it helps keep them firm, Sabini also offered me some variant's using real blonde horn Plisson style, very handsome, cost more but just not my thing.

If you are a brush enthusiast or are looking for your first two band brush I'd recommend it, if you have a similar sized two band/finest probably not but hey you know how it is, it's an all round quality item from Sabini and I'm pleased with it. Cost £60 direct but seen them go for £45 and upwards via Sabini's ebay.
