After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
Schick J type injector/Gillette Platinum Plus (NOS)
Surrey SS (pre VDH reformulation)
Neutrogena oil free moisture
Givenchy 'Xeryus' EdT (old juice)

Picked up this injector a while back and tried it today. Performs just like the other J types I've used in the past, which means it's a very good shaver. Heh, I gotta treat these old blades like I'm using a Feather.......very sharp.

I'd bought this cream months ago on a whim and after realising it was latherless and reading some poor reviews I'd tossed it to the back of the drawer.

I gave it a try today and was very pleasantly surprised. It gave a great wee shave and smells really good. My skin also felt soft and "pliable" afterwards.

I did have to use a lot of product though, and it's not the cheapest.

After: Alum, Superdrug FF AS, Bluebeard's Revenge ASB

Nanny's soap arrived today but after my morning shave so I'll be joining in Soap of the Week tomorrow.
Don't really like Lord blades much so thought I'd let the Progress deal with it; result was a nice DFS without irritation.
Bought some Bluebeard's Revenge ASB from Holland & Barrett in Preston at the weekend. Weird jelly stuff, but does make your skin feel clean and conditioned, I quite like it.

Razor: Iwasaki
Cream: LEA Menthol
AS: Proraso
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D
Nicer and better edge, after some touching up with Shapton 16k GS, after a tour on a Japanese lv 5 stone, hmm.

:icon_eek: I can't even pronounce some of them, hurts my eyes just trying, I'd google them But who is going to do that with every item they buy?
Perhaps the un-necessary chemicals are there to help your skin dry up and fall off, and then you get to spontaneously combust in a ball of flame :dodgy:

Does anybody else find these Pro Guard blades a bit annoying? There beautifully made,
but they do mother you somewhat I know there designed to be safe ( I can run my finger across the blade without bloodshed) are the other blades better?

greetings gentlemen,

exciting times as i get to move onto month 2 of my monthly routine - new things at last! this month my staples are going to be -

*Cella

this is my better stuff essentially so i'm looking forward to see how the month pans out. slight rule change for myself - can have 3 guest soap appearances and 2 razor changes if i'm so tempted.
1st shave was yesterday - my prep was -

Sir Irisch Moos A/S
aloe vera moisturiser

lovely shave - i do think the angle of the vintage gillette heads make the whole shave feel easier. nice weight on the slim - 3 passes - settings 4,6,6. the difference in quality of the brush was immediately noticeable and the cella lathered a treat. looking forward to this months shaves.

excellent, irritation free shave. first try of the mem blade and i like it, it doesnt feel the sharpest but certainly does the job.
