S.O.T.D w/c Saturday 3rd - Friday 9th August 2013

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/Iridium
RL Safari SS (man, I wish every soap lathered like this does)
Neutrogena oil free moisture
Givenchy 'Xeryus' EdT (vintage black bottle)

Been good getting back to these kinda shaves again after taking a few days break with a slant. Heh, I was recently complaining about how boring my choice of razors has become and it turns out boring is beautiful. Yeah, sticking with only a few great set ups is a goal for lots of members as it turns out.

BBS results,

Martin

Good. Found the Sputnik not especially good with the 7:00. Seemed not to get close enough. Still an OK shave. Enjoyed the IL.

Soap: Speick (grated)
Brush: M&F Blonde Badger
Razor: Weber Polished/Bulldog
Blade: Iridium Super (4 and out)
Post: Clinique Post-Shave Healer

Couple mini-weepers today, otherwise a comfy shave. Time for a fresh blade tomorrow.

Upon reaching the house at the Pyrenees and enter the bathroom and see the cabinet I panicked. I thought my stuff could not fit.

But finally I succeeded. You think I can do a good rotation with this material? Two weeks?

Gillette Super Thin blades have given me some poor shaves, but today I found a good combo. The Gillette Old Type head and the Super Thin blade work beautifully together. I did a superlather of Provence Sante Green Tea and Local Pig shave cream, which worked out well. I don't like PS, but with the Local Pig I get a thick, creamy lather with amazing skin care properties. I'm using a reknotted Muhle HJM brush with a 20mm TGN synthetic knot. The knot is not a soft as my EMJ synthetic, but I like it.

I did a three pass wtg/atg/xtg shave followed by a copd water rinse and SAL Alum. The results were a DFS with nice soft skin, zero nicks, and zero irritation. I'm disappointed that the modern Super Thins aren't as nice as the vintage Super Thins, but I'm glad that I found a razor that they work well in.

Pre: Hot shower and warm water splash
Razor: Gillette Old Type on a Gillette ball end Tech handle
Blade: Gillette Super Thin
Brush: Muhle HJM reknotted with a 20mm TGN synthetic knot
Soap: Superlather of Provence Sante Green Tea and Local pig

Used the GEM Micromatic solo today, face and head in one shave. Myrsols Metilsol was a joy to use (medial herb like feeling to the scent and jet again excellent result). Jabonmans Citricos has a devine scent with lemon grass bas note, Begamot and Neroli + other scents are in there too - Estupendo shave and gear! :D

Dear Dr D, you're a nut case and you fit right in here! Wow think about it - if Martini had joined us in Barcelona I think we could have given Salvador Dali a run for his money :D

This morning I used my Feather Popular and Omega Pro. 102 for the first time:

Omega Professional #102
GF Trumper's Coconut (with a small dab of Balea Sensitive cream, to get a richer lather)
Feather Popular
Personna Platinum Chrome
Sanex Sensitive aftershave balm

The Feather delivered a good shave, in two passes, but is a bit milder and lighter than I like. It will be an excellent travel razor.

Dr D - I cant work out whether you're inspirational or mental! Amazing! If that's your travel selection, your den at home must be like a story from the Arabian Nights.

Gillette Super-Speed
Israeli Personna (1)
Muhle Silvertip Fibre
DR Harris Eucalyptus
Nivea Sensitive balm

Followed by a spritz of Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet - which always seems to smell better from samples than from a bottle I had.

Saturday night

Gillette face wash
Palmolive stick face lathered
New forest 1901
