SOTD Sat. 20th April to Fri. 26th April 2013

Run (opens the pores:)
Hot shower
Ingram's face lathered (WTG, XTG) Trumper's soap for ATG PASS
Rudy Vey 2 Band Best
Merkur Progress (first use)
4711 Aftershave

Acquired a Progress today so gave it a whirl on 3 day stubble. I really like this razor. Started 2.5 but went up to 3 for the WTG and XTG.

Back to 2.5 for ATG. Very close shave, one weeper and very comfortable. I seem to like the Merkur geometry over Muhle/Edwin. Like the Rapira blades a lot (bulk bought Rapira pink and Blues)

Ran out of Ingrams in brush after 2nd pass so reached for the nearest to hand for last pass............ (Sorry Graeme) :)

fantastic shave. massively impressed with the sputnik.

I agree I'm impressed with the Sputniks. On my list of favourites with Polsilver super iridiums. Everyone owes it to themselves to try the Sputniks.

MONDAY EVENING

Prep: Hot flannel
Razor: Cobra Classic
Blade: Feather Professional (8)
Brush: Simpson PJ 2 band
Cream: Henk's Dutch Moss - bowl lathered
Post shave: Witch hazel and IK balm

The blade that keeps on giving! 8 shaves and still not blunt.

Good shave tonight. Not BBS, more like 8\10 but, more importantly, no cuts.

Oooh, you've got a malachite Aztec. Love that brush.

I would struggle to pick a favourite of my brushes, but if I did, this would probably be the one. The weight suits it. Tempted by one in soapstone for a real heavyweight though...

This morning:

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: Dovo Flowing, 6/8"
Brush: Simpson Major in best
Soap: Palmolive stick
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Red Ginger
Scent: L'Occitane Verveine

Nice.

St. George's Day:

I tried to get an English a shave as I could this morning.

Ingram's cream
Vulfix 660
Ever Ready Streamline
Gem blade (not English, but damn fine)
Steve's Barbershop Bay Rum
D.R. Harris Arlington EdC

Bloody fine shave it was too! Near BBS.

Tuesday 23rd April 2013 St. George's Day
Prep: Shower
Razor: Gillette 1952 Rocket Anniversary Set 52 A (Paperclip) English
Blade: Thin Gillette, 7 O'Clock, Wilkinson Sword. All English
Brush: Vulfix 404 Mixed. (custom knot) Made in England
Cream: RSC Made in Peterborough, England
Aftershave: Astral Cream (light) Made in England

A very nice shave.........eventually!

Carl (Not the Stig) was spot on with the Gillette Thin and the 7 O'Clock carbon blades, they are evil and have more pull than a deep sea tug.

The Wilkinson Sword blade was one rescued from my blade bin and still gave a good shave, this blade has crossed the Atlantic twice as Dodgy (Martin) gave them to me with a razor I bought from him.

All the other items are made in England even the brush has a custom knot made from mixed fibres of wild boar shot in Dorset and hair from the high mountain Norfolk Badger, this is the sub species Meles meles norfuckicus alpinus. Lin. that lives in the Norfolk Alps above the tree line and is famous for the quality of the hair it produces.

Regards
Dick.

It didn't even trigger with me that it's St George's Day until I got in this morning and it was the subject of the Head's assembly. Ah well. 3 of the 6 elements were English, I suppose, which'll do. I don't own any English-made aftershave or blades anyway.
