Nice morning shave the last pass I could feel the blade was on its way out. Irritation free but one small nick on my mole.
Prep: Hot shower
Pre: T&H Pre-shave oil
Cream: T&H West Indian Limes
Brush: T&H Super Badger
Razor: Merkur 34C HD
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless (Green)
Post: T&H No 10 Post-shave Cologne Balm
A lovely, very smooth shave last night. Never been a fan of the 7 O'Clock Greens on first shave (always preferred them on 2nd or 3rd use) but twinned with the Merkur they really come into their own. Not quite BBS but that's more to do with my still-developing technique than the blade.
Prep: Shower Scuttle: Schwarzweisskeramik basic Brush: Thater 22mm 2-band fan (4125/00) Cream: St James of London Cedarwood & Clarysage Razor: Boker "Finest English Cast Steel" 5/8" quarter hollow Astringent: Osma Alum Aftershave: St James of London Cedarwood & Clarysage Aftershave Cologne
Notes: Was attempting to use a 'scything' technique and resolutely not doing an ATG pass, trying to be as gentle to the edge and my face as possible.
I think I need more practice as WTG & XTG passes didn't yield BBS.
The razor was one I had previously attempted to hone. After a clean & polish, I re-did the bevel set. Not bad, but again, could be keener.
As my Replated head is now here for my razor it had to have it's trial run this morning.
There have also been a few messages hidden in the forum which have made my subconscious think about using Ingram again.
Prep: Hot Shower
Brush: New Forest Super Badger
Cream: Ingram
Razor: Gillette New on iKon Bulldog handle
Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux
Balm: Barbershop Bay Rum
It felt a bit like a step back in time when I opened the ingram. I haven't used it for over 10 years, and it's also my Dads daily shaving cream, so lots of memories.
I easily face lathered the ingram with the New Forest brush, and the razor and blade combination did a good job of producing a very smooth and comfortable shave. This is a very good shaving cream, which often gets overlooked.
An excellent shave with a good splash of Steves Bay Rum to finish.
