Monsavon
Fatboy (nickel plated) on 7, 4
Super Thin "Chinese" (I don't know what else to call them) - second shave
Boots Freshwood a/s lotion

Blade was obviously struggling towards the end but muddled through. I binned it straight after. Can't have been too bad a shave as there was barely any sting anywhere from the alcohol-laden splash.

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap, cold
Razor: Kropp 6/8", ivorine scales, restored by Jamie
Brush: New Forest High Mountain Badger
Cream: Taylor's Violets
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Green Ginger
Scent: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet

Great.

And the UFO handle works really well with this Merkur head, it provides with a delightful "precise" touch.

Cheers!

Oh man, it's either you or the Good Doctor who keeps taunting me (in a good way) with that handle. Sometimes it's both of you!

Very beautiful, and from what you said a while back, not too heavy so the balance would still be ok. Sheeeesh.

Friday

Feather AC SS
Feather Pro Blade
Edwin Jagger Silvertip Brush
Vitos Super Coconut Shaving Soap
Witch Hazel

Almost the same as yesterday. Neck seems to be taking a bit of punishment, but face is not a problem.

last night

la toja stick,
simpson brush
merkur travel
astra sp second shave
nivia sensitive balm

bit rough round the edges, loads left on the brush for multiple passes, a few weapers, caused mainly by me going too fast and prep not being as good as usual. but ok.

Feather Artist Club SS/ Feather Super Professional Blade
Muhle HJM Black Fibre Synthetic

Home prepared Toner/AS (Based on cider vinegar)
Unrefined Shea Butter
James Bronnley Gentlemens EDT
Morgans Classic Pomade

Two passes and a touchup for an excellent shave.

Friday 5th October 2012
Prep: Shower
Razor: Schick Type E
Blade: Schick Stainless
Brush: Vulfix 404 Mixed
Soap: Cella
Aftershave: Dove Sensitive Balm

Two more weepers and a tiny nick on my neck! This razor really is an aggressive little bugger, a 'wolf in sheep's clothing' and a bit unforgiving regarding any lack of attention, or technique shortcomings.

I shall try a Personna stainless coated blade tomorrow and take it much slower and see if that helps improve matters.

Regards
Dick

The home prepared toner sounds very interesting, would you be prepared to share the recipe, please? I'd like to have a go at making something for purely my own use. Thank you.

Morning all,

Hot shower prep with L'occitane face soap,
Proraso Pre/Post Green,
Ingrams cream,

Speick A/S,
Floris Elite Edt.

Nice smooth two pass.

Friday

Day 4 of the Chinese blades, New blade for me today, trying out the Jianyu Swordfish. This blade didn't feel the sharpest to me, although it was very smooth to use. Not a bad shave, but after 3 passes there was still a reasonable amount of stubble on my face, perhaps this needed to be in a more aggressive razor. I don't think I'll be using this blade again though so onto the Super Gllette Blue tomorrow.

Prep: Hot Shower
Cream: TOBS Jermyn Street
Brush: Neep 26mm Extra Silvertip in Kingfisher Burl
Razor: Feather AS-D1
Blade: Jianyu Swordfish
Post: TOBS Jermyn Street AS Balm

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage butterscotch Ever Ready badger
'Webly'/Razi Super (thanks Jamie)
vintage Lentheric SS
Barbershop Bay Rum AS
Malizia 'Vetyver' EdT

First time using this blade and it's a good one. Definitely on the sharper side, with a forgiving nature. Very nice!

This old soap is a top performer........love to find more of this stuff.

BBS results,

Martin
