My theme for this evening was 'In the dog house'
The Dogs danglies - Colonial General
Dog day sunrise - Kai Captain
Like a dog with two tails - Razorock Plissoft 24mm synthetic
Dog eat dog - Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet cream
The scent of a dog - Ermenegildo Zegna Italian Bergamot EDT
Usual waffle. I spent most of the day rationalising the HiFi and thinning it all down to one system instead of two. All a bit more tiring than I thought it might be, having to traverse four floors carrying lumps of equipment with some weighing in excess of 20Kg. After a number of hours of lugging stuff up and down stairs I was ready for a damn good shower and a shave.
One hot shower later and in to 'attack the growth mode'.
After my recent adventures and failures with a straight I guess the closest I am going to get is an SE, but to be honest I can get everything I wish for in the General and to be even more honest I doubt I could really get much closer and much smoother. With a Kai Captain between the plates this is one top drawer piece of kit. I have tried other sharper blades but I think the Captain is a lovely match without trying to up the anti and removing more than just hairs.
The Penhaligon's cream I must admit is another item to share the top drawer. I have only used this cream once before and I am glad I brought it out for a second look in. A rich beautiful lather with wonderful properties as a shaving medium. Plus the scent of the Blenheimn Bouquet has better longevity than their Eau De Cologne which barely sees it past the five minute stage. Not the cheapest of creams but bought from the Penhaligon's outlet in York which does make it better value.
The brush is what it is.......stunning and I would struggle to find anything which could keep me happier in the brush stakes. This thing could whip up a tropical storm.
Add the lot together, mix, match, play and use and the end result was one amazing smooth criminal of a shave. It put a nice end to a nice day. Throw on a bit of Zegna and the world looks truly wonderful.......except........why would I theme it 'In the dog house?'
Well one slight mishap later with a bottle of Ermenegildo Zegna Italian Bergamot EDT and.......
Bugger. One cracked sink later and the world suddenly changes its appearance to down right ugly and I find my place in the dog house. Not as though we have a dog but two cats instead, being in the cat house just doesn't ring correct.
The good news? The Zegna survived the ordeal and will live to see use another day. Oh and the new HiFi set up sounds awesome, so I remain a very happy but miserable bunny.
Ah well, smooth criminals and all that
