Okay, so today is a birthday shave and a New Year shave. This would be a 3rd day in a row for me which I've not done since I started DE shaving half a year ago.
Why I decided to change so many things in one go is anyone's guess, but I'm paying for it.
I decided to try plate R5 on my 6c and for reasons unknown, I decided to use a Feather blade.
Another addition to the line up was OSP's Barber Shop soap however that performed flawlessly.
Starting the shave I was quietly confident in the blade. I could feel that the blade and plate were quite a bit more aggressive than usual but I made sure I watched my angle and pressure. The WTG pass went by with no errors.
Shaving XTG things started to liven up a bit. I caught myself at the left side of my lips and watched as claret formed then ran down. Bollocks. Not painful. Just a stupid lapse in concentration.
Rinsing at the end of this pass I could feel a slight heat around my chin.
The 3rd and final pass ATG had a few weepers around my lower chin. I could feel more heat and decided enough was enough. Could I do with a few pickups - sure. Would I regret it - definitely!
After rinsing I splashed on another new addition to my den with Epsilon Blue. It smells brilliant and is just like my barbers down the road. A splash and a scream as my face lit up! Hopping from foot to foot the burn died down and I inspected the damage. A quick touch with my styptic pencil needed....with another few ooohs and ahhhs as it made contact.
I've got a Good finish but I wasn't comfortable at all. The Feather blades will be getting passed on and I'll step back to plate R3 on my razor.
Things are beginning to cool down but I'll need to add some soothing balm to calm me down (hmmm.....I wonder - Barts???).
Have a great night folks and a happy New Year!
All the Best!
