I was wondering how good a shave vintage razors give compared to modern tools. Both in comfort and efficiency. Any recommendations?
The Super speed are a nifty little razor. You'll have to bear in mind that the 'black tip', 'red tip' and 'blue tip' ones vary in aggression (as a result of more/less blade being exposed, to keep it short). The regular, all silver one is a nice shaver though. If you can pick it up cheap, no harm done! Plenty would buy it off you if you didn't find favour with it.I was considering a Gillette 1947 super speed butterfly razor.

My nomination for the best shave ever then and now is the 1950s/1960s Gillette Tech No.24 England - aluminium ball-end handle, aluminium bottom plate and plated brass top cap with etched "Gillette" logo which weighs in at 29.2g. Efficient shave with no irration at all on my face. YMMV. Guide prices - £20 with the plastic blue and clear case and £15 without, perhaps a little more. They mostly come in NOS condition (New Old Stock). On ebay and Etsy. Try it with a Gillette Platinum blade. But beware - when you see the small size of it you'll be shocked.I was wondering how good a shave vintage razors give compared to modern tools. Both in comfort and efficiency. Any recommendations?
