We may be at cross purposes. The OP is fairly new, never used a shavette it appears. My advice to him was, starting with a shavette may cause him to cut himself, that a straight would in fact be easier. He will have little to no technique if he's new.I think my point is.....with the correct technique you are not guaranteed to cut yourself.
