I'm watching cricket. Nothing unusual about that.
I'm hearing a number of things about Yorkshire men being said by an Australian. Typical stuff like "never known a Yorkshireman" to shy away from a fight etc.., etc..,.....
As far as I know it's only men from Yorkshire who seem to claim they are a race apart from the rest of us Englishmen. I'm a Hampshire hog, but I've never been aware of anything that makes me feel any different from my fellow countrymen.
I have no problem with men from any English County, or anywhere else come to that but what is it that lies behind these claims that our friends from up north have some distinguishing characteristics? Come to think of it, Lancastrians sometimes beat their chests .
Has it got anything to do with the War of the Roses?
