Baxters of California Face Wash, bloom water.
OSP Grapefruit & Menthol Soap.
Semogue 620.
Fatip Piccolo.
Permasharp (3).
Thayers Witch Hazel (Cucumber).
Alcolado Glacial splash.

Third use of the Fatip and a nice, comfortable shave, aided by the excellent OSP, on a 2 day growth. I'm not sure whether it's because I have been over cautious with the Fatip, but I can't say I find it any more efficient than the Progress on, say, 3. Have you guys any suggestions for a blade that works particularly well in the Piccolo? Thats not to say that the shave has been disappointing at all. Irritation and weeper free, and very smooth. First use of the Alcolado Glacial splash - nice menthol hit!

Hi BaRay

I'm not expert enough to know what blades work best with what razors but I also could send you a few various ones so you can try before you buy....

Just spreading the love and helping if I can.

Pm me if you want with an address, if you don't like certain blades let me know and I'll make sure they are not included (if I have them that is).

Regards

Mark

I can spell it's my phone that can't sorry Barry.

Tepid bath (too hot for a warm one) / Nivea Men Sensitive
Wilko Coconut & Vanilla body butter
RazoRock 400 Plissoft Noir
Ingrams Finest liquid like cream
QShave Futur clone/ Feather Hi Stainless (1)
Witch hazel/tea tree mixture
Proraso Green ASL

This was my second shave with the QShave Futur clone, and my second try of a Feather blade.
I set the razor to setting 3 and went to work with it, and it was immediately apparent that it was a good pairing.
Three comfortable passes without mishap, and a very smooth experience. I'm left with a very smooth, close shave.
The razor is for some reason shaving better one one side of the head than the other. Has anyone else found this with a Futur clone?
The cooling effect from the Ingrams cream was very welcome on this warm sticky evening, and the lather is very slick.
I anticipated a bit of a stinging sensation from the Proraso lotion because of the closeness of the shave the Feather blade elected, and I wasn't wrong.
The clone is a good shaver, but for the difference in the blade gap.

Hi Paul,
I found the same as you with the Qshave. If you look side on instead of from above (When checking blade alignment) you will see the blade is not level and is slanted. Well it was for me anyway.
There seems to me some movement when pressing the top of the cap due to the spring under the head inside the handle.
I'll only used it once but stopped after feeling the uneven blade alignment. It doesn't fill me with confidence TBH.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

old antique store silvertip of some kind
1959 Fatboy (favorite year and quarter)/ Wilkinson Light Brigade
older version Coates rose SC
Neutrogena oil free moisture
no EdT for some reason

This set up's what I have been using a bunch of times recently. I bought this brush over a month ago and jeeez, it's a good one. No writing at all on the clear Lucite handle and the white part of the knot has yellowed a bit but man, it's pretty fun. This is a two banded springy knot, another reason for grabbing it.

Been using this E4 Fatboy, a gratefully newly discovered back up to my previous daily shaver from years ago. Something about this date with these things. Heh, I believe the pass around version is an E4 too.

Probably 4-5 shaves on this old blade and it's still fine. This LB is a top performer for me in all fields, with it being very sharp but somehow extremely forgiving and also quite smooth. Glad I was able to snag some at a very good price.

This balm or cream moisturizer works pretty well on sunburn I found out. For a couple days after with the car top down my nose was peeling like a banana.

All in all, a shave with nice smelling and color free lather, and the feeling of nothing at all sharp being whisked around my face and neck. Just shaving mostly by sound. Who woulda thunk shaving could be so not very awful and boring.

BBS results,

Martin

I noticed the (springIness) too, this makes for uneven blade gap from one end of the head to the the other.
Mine also has an unequal blade gap from one side of the head to the other side.
Mine can't be the only Futur clone to exhibit this fault.
When I find the time I will see if I can remove the head from the handle and put it back together again to see if it makes any difference. I know the Merkur Futur comes apart, so the clone should too.
Has anyone else had this same experience, or have any tips on taking the razor apart?

More adventures in Frankenrazoring. SABI cap on the R41 baseplate. Weird shave, the cap really limited cutting angle while increasing aggression where effective. Not a keeper, BBS but not a real standout in the comfort department.

To dismantle the razor take the cap off and with your thumb put pressure on the blade bed and unscrew the handle anticlockwise.... To reassemble is the reverse. :)

Brush: - Semogue Special Edition 2012 Badger/Boar knot 24/55mm
Cream/Soap: - Stirling Island Man
Razor: - Colonial General Aluminum Head with the iKon Bulldog Handle
Blade: - Schick Proline P-30 #8
Post: - Thayers Witch Hazel 'Lemon' / Bulldog Original Aftershave Balm

I really enjoy the Stirling Island Man shaving soap the color of the soap is light blue when you open the lid and the scent smell soft sweet and relax on my nose, not too sweet that you might hate it straight away and it does smell very similar to Palmolive Classic European shave stick with a mixture of Bay Rum together. I can only smell the bergamot, lime, mandarin, ginger, sugarcane, musk, and rum, this Stirling Island Man shaving soap is worth it to have this in your den.
