Sotd - Tuesday 24/10 -

Razor - Schick I1
blade - vintage twin
brush - Vie Long Anniversary two band
soap - A&G Agua de Colonia Barberia cream
post - witch hazel
a/s - Floid Vigoroso LE
balm - A&G Agua de Colonia Barberia.

Result - perfecto.

Keeping it mostly Spanish tonight. The scent of the Barberia cream is the perfect antidote to a dreich day. A wee bit of sunlight in a jar. It performs really well for me - if you haven't tried it you probably wouldn't regret it. Depending on your tastes of course. Check the scent profile and see what you think. It's quite strong smelling in use. A big tub of highly concentrated cream for your money. One of the few soaps that I always have a back up in waiting. The Special Edition Floid is a favourite - some evil genius at the company obviously thought that there wasn't enough menthol in the normal Vigoroso - let's put more in. The matching Barberia balm is good for me but not cheap. Must be the goji berries? I can see into the future after that shave - a future that might well involve picking up another Schick. Pardon my ignorance but is it only certain models that will take the twin blades? So - si, vale. Mucho gusto. Enjoy your shaves all - yours - I.
All Schicks after H will take Twin Blade, except those with a rising lever. Note they do not fit in PAL Injectors.

Evening - I picked up the razor from a fellow member here and he kindly tossed in a couple of used packs of the twin blades. I got more from an Ebay seller named Maidrozz. They are new stock Japanese market twin Schick blades. Not the cheapest option - £14.25 for ten, postage included - but the sale is UK based so no potential worries with getting snagged by Customs and the Post Office. I know others order them direct from Japan. So fairly easily available to answer your question. I think a couple of packs will last me quite some time. Hope this helps - yours - I.
The price offered in UK is fair compared to E Bay Price of Japanese Seller.
However, I have come across them on the Rakuten Site at £ 11 per pack of 10 plus postage.
To find them Google :- Ten Pieces of chic Injector 2.
They do ship them Small Packet, ensure you specify that.

I've transfer my on going feather pro blade from the General aluminium head to the SS General..... All I can say is HOLY COW!! I'm completely speechless and totally gob-smacked because the SS General is the heaviest razor in my den and lot more efficient than the General aluminium head, I didn't have any issue shaving with the General aluminium head attach with a ikon Bulldog handle this was my very first single edge razor in my den. I've never felt this razor that heavy against all my other razors since I've been wet shaving for nearly 3 years, the SS General weight is about 120 grams I strongly advise you to be very cautious with this SS General if you don't watch your angle and speed. I've had a small nick on my right side jaw line and under the right jaw line going WTG as I'm right handed can be a little tricky, shaving XTG & ATG is pretty easy to control the razor because you can't apply any pressure as the head balance perfectly going XTG and there's no pressure shaving ATG going under on your neck which is pretty smooth.

You can be very safe shaving from razor burn and irritation on your neck with the SS General going WTG, XTG and ATG as YMMV, just be cautious going WTG when you reach the jaw line because everybody has a different curve or shape of the there own jaw line otherwise this razor can bite you too soon if you don't pay attention to your shave. The SS General is going to take a while for me getting used to because the weight is a learning curve along my jaw line, so far I'm really enjoying the shave with the SS General and when I master the weight hopfully I should be able to used the feather pro super blade very soon or maybe go back to the Schick Proline.....will see. Follow by a nice relaxing smooth drink of Ardbeg 10yrs Old after my shave is very enjoyable, I'm looking forward to my next shave again with the SS General and I strongly advise you all.... you MUST get yourself a SS General in your den otherwise you could missed out this fantastic razor and the shave, I'm very glad to have a both SS General and the General aluminium head attach with a ikon Bulldog handle in my den.

Shavemac Americana D01 Silvertip
Schick Injector G8
Schick (2)
Abbate Y La Mantia Don Jose
Thayers Rose, Myrsol Emulsion & Aqua Velva Ice Blue

Second shave with the injector and I must say these shaves feel wickedly close, to my touch they feel closer than a DE. I loaded more soap today and out of curiosity weighed the tub before and after I shaved, weighed 159g before and 158g after, and that was with a good load of the Shavemac. The scent is wonderful, I don't get much coconut but it certainly packed full of banana and menthol.

Well today is another bummer experience. We are starting the last three pairings for the month and this set pitted a Fatip Grande against a Valet AutoStrop VC1 using a despined GEM blade.

Yesterday's shave with the Fatip Grande was another fantastic very near perfect shave and I pointed out "Today's shave was a repetition of the Phase 1 shave, super smooth, super efficient, super comfortable PDG+ near perfect. My Valets usually do a good job but it will need to do a great job tomorrow to stay in the running."

Well it did. In fact the two results are so close together it will be tough to pick a winner.

Today started again with shower using Herberia Bay Rum soap followed by Old Spice lather made using a Vie-Long horsehair brush. Then the shave itself using the Valet AutoStrop and the despined GEM blade. It was a two pass shave then rub face with alum (still tastes bad). I let that dry while I flushed and fluffed the brush then wiped up any water on the sink. With my face dry and the alum making stretching easier I did a few touchup strokes around the always tough to get spots.

After shave was Chatillon Vide Poche aftershave.

Last it was time to clean up the razor and put it away and finally, that was when I determined the winner.

To fully rinse the blade in the Fatip Grande you have to take it all apart and rinse the parts individually. To rinse the blade in the Valet AutoStrop VC1 you push the lever up, swing the blade and carrier up and run both side of the blade under the faucet. Easie Peasie. WINNER.

But it really was that close. There was literally no difference in the shave comfort, efficiency, speed; nothing. Since there had to be a winner the ease of cleanup with the VC1 is the only real advantage to either.

Prep - Hot towel
Pre shave - Prep
Razor – ‘The Rock' ( 3 )
Blade – Gillette 7 O'clock S/P Black
Brush - The 'Americana' (Shavemac 24/48 D01 2 Band)
Soap – Tallow + Steel: Dark

I must admit, that I really do adore using The 'Americana'.....and as for the T+S Dark? Nothing less than impeccable. A sublime shave, in every way.
