Greetings,

Early morning shave,

This morning I went for MWF, which for some people the slickness & performance of this soap is overrated each to their own. My personal opinion is i find it a wonderful soap, it does however take longer to get a acceptable lather due to it been a hard soap the post shave as always was first class because of the lanolin within the soap which my mature skin adores.

A enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups near BBS shave with no errors to report. Finishing to the shave off with a small dollop of Aloe Vera Gel...My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy your Day ladies & gentlemen.

Brush: M&F Brad Sears L7 Tigris Finest Badger
Cream: Jack Black Supreme Cream
Razor:Merkur Mergress
Blade: Vintage NOS Gillette Spoiler (3)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel; Floid Mentally Vigorous
Scent: Parfums de Marly Gallaway EdP

I always thought of Jack Black as a cosmetics specialist. I am a long-time fan of their Pit Boss deodorant, but never gave much thought to their shaving cream.
I received a couple of samples of the cream in orders, and was impressed, so pulled the trigger. And I must say - this cream is a serious contender! You don't need to use much, and it has a delightful delicate fresh rose scent.
Performance is excellent - very slick and comfortable, allowing close blade contact for improved efficiency. Also good residual slickness for touch-ups. Three passes for an effortless BBS result.

Signature Soaps Triple

I've only shaved every few days over the last week or so and used recently acquired Signature Soaps each time:
  • Hibernia (Lime, Lemon, Lemongrass, Sweet Orange and Lavender)
  • Vectis (Grapefruit, Frankincense and Lavender)
  • Eboracum (Cedarwood and Peppermint)
Same shaving setup for each shave:
  • Pre-shave face soak with a hot waffle towel
  • Pre-shave wash with Ach Brito Glyce lime soap
  • Yaqi Dandelion Cashmere brush
  • EJDE89 with a Gillette Nacet blade on a Razorock Titanium handle
All the soaps performed excellently, lathered very quickly and provided very nice, smooth and irritation-free shaves. The only noticeable difference was the fragrance. Again, each was marvellous in its own way. I don't know what @BrianH does to achieve it, but his soaps all seem to have fragrances that are subtle but at the same time make themselves known throughout the shave. They don't overpower but they don't underwhelm. They are natural, without any sort of cheap artificial chemical quality.

If you like citrus, then I can recommend Hibernia, and if you like mint but prefer a warmer rather than cooling experience, then Eboracum is fantastic. And if you want something that smells like Christmas should, then Vectis is perfect…it's got frankincense in it for goodness sake:giggle:

I now have five Signature soaps (including Coria and Danum) and I can't make my mind up on a favourite. No doubt I will get more next year and probably some AS splashes too:cool:

It was no fluke, another fine shave today, 2 passes was all that was required from this very efficient partnership.
A nice Lime theme to lift the spirits during these cold winter days.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All.

Monday evening

The Fat

For the first time, I bloomed ye Fat as I bathed. Its receptacle is a small Tupperware type dish. When it came to lathering (after using the water as a kind of pre-shave), the puck was flopping around like a de-winged pterodactyl and more lather generated than a High Expansion foam exercise. However, patience paid off; and unctuousness was restored.

So, no more blooming; it's totally unnecessary where water is softer than a bullied jellyfish. I'll return to the damp brush routine.
I never bloom my fat. I only have one soap I currently bloom which is TOBS Sandalwood. That is harder to lather than MWF..

Monday battle: DS-Z0 vs MÜHLE R41
Which one won?
