Greetings,
Another early start for me this morning....

Today's shave was a maiden shave using a shavette & a DE razor..Since i started DE shaving i've always been intrigued into trying out a shavette..Due to @AnthH kindly gifting me one along with an assortments of sample creams, cologne, soap & DE blades, of which i'm extremely grateful for..I told him i would try the Shavette, so today i pushed the boat out and experienced my first two pass shave, with a shavette...The verdict?

First pass: wtg, which went pretty smoothly considering it was my first attempt, even my sensitive areas i shaved went pretty well, spilling no blood.. I'm right handed so it was slightly more difficult shaving the left hand side of my face, i didn't attempt to use my left hand..in time i'll attempt to, but for now, i wont..I know my limitations.

Second pass: xtg this pass i found i had slightly more control, and gained a little more confidence, obviously i took longer than normal, but in my mind i told myself to make sure the shavette was moving and my angle was the same before i carried on shaving, i gave myself a tiny little nick under the chin but nothing major, overall another successful pass..
Third Pass: atg with the last pass + pickups i finished
with my 98R...
For my first maiden shave with a Shavette. it was pretty good,a excellent silky smooth shave with only small minor errors to report.

I'll be honest readers, i won't be in a hurry in purchasing a straight razor after my first experience with a shavette, i will however from time to time use it, but i'll stick to my DE razors, as i feel as though i have much more control, i know it was only my first attempt, but, i now realise why i appreciate the weight of DE razors, the shavette was a little too light..but i've had a brief insight into how it must feel to shave with a straight, thanks to @AnthH again for passing the shavette on to me, and all the other excellent shaving assortments, cheers mate.;)

Finishing the shave off in style with a generous splash of Old Spice...My face is feeling super smooth & smelling devine.;)

Enjoy your day,ladies & gentlemen.

Mastro Livi Hand Forged "Rasoio Italiano"

Luxurious shave! This morning I used this breathtaking Mastro Livi straight razor of which I have a very fond memory. It is in fact the straight razor Mastro Livi made for me and which is part of my "Italian Shave Set". I remember when Mastro Livi and I discussed about this set and how I wanted it to be, not to mention the excitement of seeing those ideas turning into reality thanks to the superlative Mastro Livi's craftsmanship and skill. I made a video that day - the link is below - and it was a wonderful day because for the first time shave brush, loom strop and straight razor were finally together and united. As for the shave, this extra full hollow blade gives an incredibly smooth shave and sings like an Italian tenore! To me it is absolutely incredible how Mastro Livi can ground a blade by hand and with his wheel grinders only while obtaining such a super thin grinding like onion skin with a very consistent precision and thickness all over the blade. Marvelous straight razor!

Pre shave - Pears Glycerin
Razor - DE89
Blade - Lord Super Chrome (4)
Shave Soap - Vitos Red
Brush - Omega 80265
Post Shave - Alum
After Shave - Nivea Cooling Balm

The degradation of the LSC seems to be very constant so far aside from a little tugging. I'm growing to love the Vitos Red more and more. Even though I have no need, I'm seriously considering picking up a kg block of it. Not that I need it....

Thursday...

Pre-shave, soap and after-shave - Proraso Green
Brush - Semogue 1470
Face lather
Razor - Gem Micromatic Clog-Pruf
Blade - Gem Personna
Post - Thayer's

Maiden voyage for my newly acquired Gem. It gave a cracking shave: smooth and trouble-free. TBH, I don't remember how many shaves I've had out of the blade, but it's still doing the biz.

Full Proraso experience today, as it's hot.

Brush: Stirling Finest Bdger Fan
Razor: Gillette Super Adjustable
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (3)
Soap: d'Ardenne Bell & Short Coconut
Post: Boots Tea Tree Witch Hazel, Nivea 2 Phase & Crabtree and Evelyn West Indian Lime

Only missing some rum today, a lovely shave was had. The Super Adjustable never fails me even with a blade I'm non-plussed with. The blade is decent but not one I would go out of my way to use again anytime soon. The soap lathers beautifully and makes for a great bit of slick. I find lime is made for coconut so paired it as such. Really enjoying the Crabtree & Evelyn colognes this week, Neroli lined up for tomorrow.

Gillette NEW
Gillette Blue (Dated 1940/41)
Splash of cold water post shave

Bit of a themed shave I suppose... Decided to try out the old NOS Gillette Blue blade, despite being NOS with no visible signs of corrosion it was the dullest blade I've ever used... There must be something going on at microscopic level as I doubt DE razors would have ever taken off if they all tugged that much!
