Best soap under a fiver

I've just had a really interesting conversation with Graham Robinson at Mitchell's.

The price of a refill purchased directly from them by phone or email is now £4.26. Orders above £30 are post free. Below it's £3,50. He said if I wanted just one, he would do it for less. They produced the current formulation about 12 years ago. Up 'till then people used to use their toilet or bath soap for shaving, so good was the lather. Graham was very laid back. I told him about the enthusiasm on the forums for MWF. He said they did very little marketing. They picked up business through word of mouth. Your sounding very British, I told him. He chuckled. I asked him about suppliers in Hampshire. I have one in Lyndhurst just a few miles from my village. It's the centre of tourism here but only a village. I asked why they didn't try and sell through John Lewis in Southampton. He said they had thought about it. But no action yet.
It seems like they are happily ticking along with a steady trade.
He confirmed that MWF and Kent are virtually the same. We would not notice the marginal difference. He was interested to hear that I used their toilet soap - very good for the skin.
I didn't offer to promote their business on the south coast. But I will have a word with John Lewis in the morning when I pick up some of their soap for Antdad.

I'm a bachelor for the next 48 hours. Ruth's gone embroidering somewhere. Might have a leisurely shave this evening.

£4.50 plus 99p no matter how many is a good deal.

Just revisited Palmolive stick after many moons of using other soaps and it really is good.

Just thought I'd add my >£5

My first shot at soap porn. Is the banana working?
