You don't do subtle do you C. :) P .
WHATCHOOTALKINBOUTWILLIS??.......I can do subtle!....

But enough of me,....I can't understand for the life of me why artisan soap/brush/potters etc and specialist suppliers,.....aren't all over this site like gangbusters,..
The exposure is free and targetted, right on point.
There appear to be some vendors who throw their hat into the TSR ring and then nothing for months from them.
You only have to please one guy on here and he'll tell hundreds of potential customers.
If I hadn't been a member on here I'd never have heard of @OSP or @mervyncadman or @Roscotanna 's scuttles, whose products are now part of my life.
If it wasn't for TSR, I'd still be buying shaving gear that only big companies who can produce enough for superstores to stock.
If TSR hadn't run the Awards, I'd probably never have considered Wickham's, but since @Fox 's soaps came out on top, I couldn't wait to try some.
You can't buy publicity like that.
So come on all you smaller artisans and suppliers, who we prefer to use anyway, get a wiggle on and put a little bit of effort and a bit of your marketing budget into inducements, (samples/ freebies/discounts/shipping et al,...and use the Vendors Offers Section to get your name out to where it needs to be.

Am I the only one that think that a artisan manufacturer could put a Starter Sample Pack together at a modest cost.
One fixed pack with enough of each product for 3 or 4 shaves to get to know it properly.
Possibly even an A4 sheet of notes to get the best out of them, or which compiment each other.
I know there are places, like Shave Dash, that do a sample of a particular to order, but a think there is a market for manufacturers to do a starter box, and keeping it standard would reduce the workload.
Cheers, John

It really depends on the manufacturer, personally, I won't pay for samples, and I wouldn't charge for samples.
The manufacturer has to decide what's best for them.
BBA got involved with us and distributed hundreds, if not thousands of pounds worth of freebies to us and still runs discounts on here.
Their products are superb and I spent hard cash building up my stock, and I'm sure I'm not the only one,....so that worked:)

In full agreement with you FCT, in full agreement . P.

I know I'm going against the general consensus (‘'who me''! I hear you cry). But I don't see why vendors and especially artisans should give out a discount code. I think they find it hard enough making a living as it is.

Do I use a discount code when available? Of course not! I do have some principles. ;):p:)

I can only speak for myself, but having owned my own artisan business in the past, (not shaving related), I quite happily gave away 10% discount discount to tap in to a forum like this one, as everyone is here for one reason, and has a common interest in the product offered for sale.

I paid a significant amount to advertise in national papers and magazines, and didn't get anywhere near the return I did by connecting with groups who covered the same subject. A discount is only for actual sales as well. I cannot think of another source of advertising that you only pay for per sale, rather than thousands up front, with no guarantee of sales to match.
Even other free options such as Facebook might reach thousands more people, but the majority are probably not interested in a niche product.

Yeah,...riiiiiight!:)
90% of the retail orders from TSR is still a good profit, or you're well on your way down the pan already,...... 100% of non-sales equals the square root of fark-all.

No need for samples, but 50-60-70 grams would be great. Like in some fast foods instead of buying a regular hamburger you buy 3 small sliders. Just like that, 4 x 50 gram soaps for 25 pounds would sell imho better than 2 x 150 grams for 25. The cost of packaging is higher but there is 100g of soap less.....

Right now there is more and more artisans and people can't buy all of them, especially not spend them. There will be a saturation point..... So smaller tubs could work... In my honest opinion
