Yes - the shaving bowl with lid was turned out of Cocobolo - I believe a member of the rosewood family from Mexico.
A dense (fairly heavy) wood with its own natural oils which makes it ideal for coping with exposure to water.
The grain patina is very beautiful.

Can I just say you guys are amazing - so welcoming - I have never known a forum like it!!
