Is there anything so hateful....

Try digitizing vinyl to make your brain implode.

Heh! heh! Wouldn't even contemplate that... again it's the sheer volume of the stuff that puts me off.
I did digitise a few ancient cassette tapes with Magix software a few years ago. If you're only doing a little bit and can mess about with the software, the results were quite amazing

I shall expect puns galore as I progress... wondering if SWMBO brought a Cher CD to the relationship too... worrying stuff. I know I didn't buy it (or indeed transact for it in any way... including being given it, finding it or any other acquisitive step on my part)

If you are worried about data loss then I suggest you back up all your music files onto some sort of optical disc.

Hmmmm... optical disc as a backup... Do you mean something like the original CDs? :D :)

Have fun HM - I started my collection a while ago, dir a few hundred CDs and then stopped - I think that Summer came - or some such rubbish excuse... I was ripping to FLAC so the ripped album sizes were pretty big - I think I need to get another, larger HDD to keep the music on. Maybe I'll pick it up again this Winter.
