Lab Blue?

Chris, there ain't nuttin' to compare - they are shite, no comparison to any blade I've ever used. They would give you a sore face and no shave. Apart from which, a couple out of 198 hardly solves my problem!

A trip to the dump is in the offing - sorry, that's a bit old fashioned. Re-cycling centre.

Dump's probably your best bet, I wouldn't fancy unwrapping 198 of the buggers to put them into a blade bank.

It'll be a while before I need blades again, but mine will be coming from Connaught in future.

Then again, someone else posted photos taken under an electron microscope at his work which seemed to show a different grind.

Far out! :icon_razz: This is what that kit is for!

Looking back through the thread I can't see where you were criticised.

I don't remember being critical but certainly didn't believe the white wraps were fakes. Whether or not they came out of a Personna factory, I could not say - but they are crap.

This is being discussed on B&B too, a couple of guys over there have had the same thing but as yet there is no answer as to why the wrapper's different.

I'm still not agreeing that they're fake, only that something's not right. I think a bad batch is more likely than counterfeit.

We have a bad batch so let's wrap they in white so we know which ones and then sell them as good blades? Doesn't sound likely to me! But then neither does wrapping fakes differently to the genuine article.

'Tis a mystery, to be sure! The bit that gets me is that the white wrappers are as inaccurately folded as the blue - and the blades being shite, of course.

I did mean more along the lines Steve suggested, ie maybe the wrong blades in the box.

Someone over on B&B claims that he bought a box where the first few were labs and the rest were med preps, who knows what goes on at Personna?

I am tending to agree with Steve and Chris. I had last year my first box from SS in the US of the 'good' blades all in white wrappers , didn't 't think much of it at the time until I ordered my second box in May this year when the blades got the blue wrappers. Same very good blades.

These seem to be in white wrappers now though. Used to be red http://r.ebay.com/aAEz0y

No - I'm afraid I have to disagree. What you've posted are Platinum Chromes. Salon Supply purport to sell blades made in the USA. To the best of my knowledge the only blades made in the USA are Lab Blues and Med Preps. Platinum Chromes (known as reds to Americans) are made in Israel. The lettering on the PC blades is totally different to Lab Blues; the white wrapper on UK PCs is different again to the white wrapped Salon Supply blades. Have a look at West Coast Shaving to see reds and PCs side by side.

P.S. Salon Supply have promised to send me blue wrapped blades, wrapper marked 'super' i.e. should be Lab Blues, although I don't mind if I get Med Preps!

Platinum chrome are made in the USA. I could never get on with them.

Common misconception I'm afraid. Even some vendors get it wrong. Not West Coast

or Connaught

Try emailing Personna/The American Safety Razor Company/Energizer, although you might get the run around.
Energizer, of course, took over ASRC when it went bankrupt and own the Personna brand. I like to think I know a bit about their history.

Sounds like you do. So come on, what are these blues in a white wrapper?
