Name your favourite top ten films?

The first one is in there as a childhood favourite I still occasionally watch. In no particular order, then:

1 Roadhouse
2 Pirate of the Caribbean (first one - an accidental work of unmixed genius)
3 Serenity
4 Pan's Labyrinth
5 Dark Knight
6 City of God
7 Withnail and I
8 Kick Ass
9 When Harry Met Sally
10 Die Hard

But I could easily have listed different ones. I see over 100 films a year at the cinema, and I like quite a lot of them.

Errmmm off the top of my head, in no particular order, apart perhaps from the first ones:

Time Bandits
Lord of the Rings
Unbreakable
A Matter of Life and Death
Goodfellas
Casino
Almost Famous
Anchorman
Gladiator
Excalibur

Special Mentions to films that could be in there on any given day:

Princess Bride,Sexy Beast, Iron Giant, Highlander, Snatch, Its All Gone Pete Tong, Perfect Storm, Carlitos Way, Layer Cake, Roadhouse, Lost in Translation, Gran Torino, Inception, Life of Brian plus numerous Carry on Films, particularly Dont Lose Your Head and Up the Khyber.

Still think I've forgotten to put something I really like in!

Thanks Sharon, it's the ultimate gangster film. In White Heat, Cagney just oozes menace as Cody Jarrett. Rarely see it in any lists though...

...made it Ma: top of the world!!!

10 is going to be very difficult....

1) Goodfellas
2) Shawshank Redemption
3) Jaws
4) Audition (Japanese)
5) The Fly (Goldblum)
6) Blood Simple
7) American Beauty
8) Let The Right One In (Swedish)
9) Duel
10) Ferris Bueller's Day Off

11) Ok, cheating now, but can't forget The Breakfast Club!

...or Leon! ;-)

Seen way too many films lately (all genres) with really bad acting and terrible scripts - how do these ever get approved to be made?!

And, why do they keep remaking foreign films? Can Americans not read subtitles?
