Okay, I'll say it now. I don't like Daniel Craig, so I'll keep this short. I first saw this at the cinema in 2006 with a friend, and hated every minute of it. The Bond girls are nothing special, the villains are dull, the film is far too long and the noisy theme tune gave me a migraine. I also didn't like Daniel Craig as Bond, because he lacked charisma and presence, and I thought that he was "thuggish". I watched this film again last night, but only because I am working my way through my Bond boxset. Sorry to any Daniel Craig fans, but I don't like him or any of his Bond films. No rating.

From '95 on, they were all just noise, no savvy, no cool.

It’s called humour, very light hearted at that. I shall be more careful in future as you obviously don’t have any sense of one.

You may call it "humour", but it was at my expense. I call it "rudeness", when someone who doesn't even know me calls me "weird". It's not even true, as anyone who knows me would confirm.
 
Thirteen Lives, on Amazon Prime. Based upon the rescue of the young footballers from flooded Thai caves. Great acting from Colin Farrell and Viggo Mortensen. Although I vaguely remember the incident, didn't realise how the kids were rescued. Very tense!

Highly recommended all. It is really well filmed, and it sounds like some of the actors are going to be up for awards!

Carry On Sergeant (1958)

The first ever Carry On film, and made in black and white. The screenplay was written by Norman Hudis, not Talbot Rothwell, so the humour is a lot more subtle and a lot less "bawdy" than some of the films from the 1960s onwards. As a result, the film has a lot more in common with the "gentle" Ealing comedies of the 1940s and 1950s, than the later films in the series. The more "rude" humour didn't really come into the series until the mid 1960s. I enjoy most of the Carry On films, though, and I enjoyed this film again. I give it a very fair score of 8/10.

Halloween (2007)

Please note that my review is for the Rob Zombie-directed version, not the far superior John Carpenter classic from 1978.

I had never seen this version before, but someone I know lent me a DVD of the film to watch. I thought it was a very appropriate film to watch at Halloween. I soon realised that this was a bad mistake, though, and I turned it off after an hour. If you love the 1978 original, as I do, then stay well away from this version, because it will just tarnish your memories of a much superior film. This version is just trash, and nasty and extremely violent just for the sake of it. This version also justifies what Michael Myers turned into, and what drove him to kill. Part of the ethos of the original was that we didn't know why Myers was a killer, which just added to his mystique, but this version pissed all over that, but not in a good way. This film is also two hours long, which I thought was a bit too "dragged-out" for a horror film. It was certainly a "horror film", but not for good reasons. The acting was also appalling, by a mainly Z-List cast. It was easily the worst horror film I had seen for years. Just don't bother with this, and stick with the 1978 version instead. No rating...just awful.
