Prep: Hot shower Pre: S.M.Novella Pre-shave Soap: NSS - Down Home Summer (Traditional) Bowl: Woodhead Pedestal Brush: Vie-Long Horse Hair 13061M Razor: ATT R1 + Bamboo handle Blade: Sputnik (3) After: WH, Fine Fresh Vetiver AS, Nivea ASB
After battling with my ATT SE1 (me coming out worse with a nasty cut) I've reverted back to ATT R1 for an easy comfortable shave. In fact the SE1's Bamboo handle really matches nicely with the R1. I like the way the handle's bumps prevent your fingers gradually moving over to one end of the handle.
I am about to get ready to go back home and before leaving it is always good to shave. I have been very happy about this shave, not only because of the stellar Mastro Livi razor I brought with me, but also for the awesome aftershave I used today, one of my favorite ones. Floïd Blue is certainly an excellent aftershave and it is so bad they quit production. Nevertheless I see so many wet shave lovers complaining about Floïd Blue not being in production anymore and I wonder whether Colomer - the producer of Floïd range - will ever read this and change their mind. This would certainly make a lot of people very happy.
Pre-Shave:RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
Soap:De Vergulde Hand
Brush:Omega Bristle 83
Bowl:Chinese Bowl
Strop:Mastro Livi Travel Loom Strop and Hand Palm
Razor:Mastro Livi Stripes CarboInox Italy, 7/8 Full Hollow, Spanish Point
Shake Sharp v2 with a shimmed Permasharp. Crazy close shave. I don't think quite as easy going as the stabilized v1 but baby dolphin butt smooth results.
Pre-shave - Kiehl's ultra facial cleanser and Village Barber Shaving Oil
Razor - Muhle Rocca R96
Blade - Astra SP
Cream - Kiehls Lite Flite Shave Cream
Brush - Simpsons Duke 2
Post shave - D.R Harris Mild Skin Tonic and Kiehl's Shavers Post Shave Repair Gel
Have not used Kiehl's in my shave routine for a while. The weather is getting very cold and I find the Kiehls creams and gells good for moisturizing the skin.
Time to figure out which of these razors I prefer. The title of this shave is a double meaning: 1) I got an easy BBS shave. 2) This is a reference to the movie "Cool Runnings" where one character says another (bald) character should draw a line down the middle of his head "so it looks like a butt." I shaved the right half of my neck and head with the brass, the left side with aluminum. Which do I prefer? Watch this Friday to find out.
Razor: Gillette Black Tip X 3 1952
Blade: Wilkinson Sword (4)
Brush: EverReady 100 T, Mid to late 1950's
Soap: Route 66 Perfect Storm
Aftershave: Lucky Tiger
Close comfortable 3 passes with a touch up for a DFS. Restored the Ever Ready 100 T by replacing the knot, adding weight to the handle, and cleaning it up a little. Still need more work on the handle.
