Where is the whingeing and moaning? The OP made a statement that was then explained.

I'm sorry Rob, I see it differently. This problem the OP mentioned has been reported countless times, it has been explained on numerous occasions as to what the problem is.
And now it has been repeated again. As I said there are a lot more important things going on than slow loading pages.
And If you want to be pedantic Rob, the OP asked a question, he did not make a statement.

No need to What I suppose I was trying to say was, slow loading pages are a trivial thing in my book.

You may be noticing some slowness today. It's also been noticed by our hosts and they are actively investigating...

Update: it seems to be something on the server generating a lot of disc traffic (so some reads/writes are being delayed) - prime suspect is not us (phew!)

@hunnymonster - thanks for the advices. Yes, I noticed something wasn't quite right from in or around 15:00hrs this afternoon.

Updated update: seems the server was / is getting flooded with email spam hence the slowdown as the mailscanners were working overtime... details a little sketchy. Some IPs have been blocked.

At our host's suggestion we have made a config change that should speed us up a bit more...
