I'm sending Polsilvers, Green Gillettes and a Perma-Sharp.
 
These are the only one's i've tried so far, i rate in this order

1. Gillette 7 o'clock Super Platinum (dark blue pack, Russian)
2. Astra Superior Platinum
3. Wilkinson Sword Double Edge
4. Derby Extra

My favourite blades are Gillette 7 O'Clock yellows and greens (russian), i didnt think the blue were that different so not worth the premium over them, as i bin blades after 2 shaves.

Astra SP's are very smooth blades i will buy a couple of hundred at some point.

The Derby's and Wilkinson Swords (German) i'll try again before commenting as i only used these when i first started DE Shaving, they resulted in a few nick's but that was probably my lack of skill!

try the 7 o'clock greens and yellows, so I really appreciate the offers. I now have

There is that Astra again...... I am now intrigued by these blades, very cheap and
seem to be on almost everybody's top three. Fascinating.
 
I'm with you on this one Rico - I didn't rate Astras at all compared to the others on the list .. but i am going to give them another go in light of this, in case its the operator that's the problem!

Well so far from what I can gather, a great many people like 7 o'clocks of varying
different colours, Feathers and Astras, so I think my hunch was right to start with

This, I got the Connaught sample pack then got 10 packs of these. For me they're a great combination of sharp and smooth. The Astra's were okay but I don't understand all the praise they get here.

With razor blades it's very much a YMMV thing. One man's Feather is another man's Derby. Feel free to insert two other brands...

My top 2 of blades:
1. Feather
2. Gillette 7 o'clock Super Platinum (dark blue Russians)

Both offer a great balance of sharpness and smoothness IMO.

Tried and not liked:
Derby
Merkur
Red Personna
Gillette Bleue Extra
Gillette Super Silver Platinum coated
Hema
 
Out of all those listed I've tried the following:

Astra Superior Platinum
Derby Extra
Feather New Hi-Stainless Platinum
Gillette 7 o'clock Super Platinum (dark blue pack, Russian)

And I'd only rate the Gillette and Astra out of them.

Derbys are just too inconsistent and, for me, Feathers just cause irritation which is very strange when they are so highly rated.
 
Well, I haven't shaved for a couple of days and I'm just going to go and have
one now.... It's Feather time. I'll be able to report how it went as my local
hospital has an internet connection.

I'm looking forward to trying the Perma-Sharp...It also seems to make it high
on allot of peoples list of favourite blades. Thanks again everyone.
