SOTD: Saturday 28 September - Friday 4 October 2024.

Sunday 29th September

Soap • Mallard Amore
Brush • Yaqi Moka Express
Razor • Timeless 0.68 SS Scalloped
Blade • Gillette Spoiler (3)
Post • Mallard Amore splash

My first SOTD post in 11 days. . . What I was hoping was man-flu turned out to be full blown Covid (again). To make things worse, I passed it on to Mrs L, and she too has been very unwell.
We're feeling somewhat better now, and looking forward to getting out of the house.

I've had two half-hearted one pass shaves while I've been ill, 4/5 days apart, so haven't gone the full Grizzly Adams!

It's nice to be back in the land of the living.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

SOTD September 29. 2024.

Razor - Blackland Sabre V2 (3)
Blade - Personna Gem Stainless (5)
Soap - The Art Of Shaving (TAOS) Sandalwood (Tallow)
Bowl - Little Wren Pottery
Brush - Zenith unbleached boar with Olive wood handle
Post - Thayer's Astringent followed with Taylor of Old Bond Street Victorian Lime
Frag - YSL Kouros

A lovely soap, I use it sparingly because it's my only one and now unobtainable.
The razor and blade combo are a hard pairing to beat imo and gets better with every use.
Very well shaven and smelling fabulous! :)

Until the next time, take care and above all enjoy your shaves! :)

Paul.

Sunday 29 September

Today I used the same GEM blade that recently saw action in my new Sabre in my somewhat older (like 100 years) GEM Junior Bar recently acquired for a song on eBay. Result was the same in both cases, to wit, bbs in two passes. Now I love using both razors but do wonder why I spend so much on modern razors when the old vintage boys like the Junior are just as effective and miles cheaper.
The brush is an Omega badger and the soap AchBrito Mogno. A great start to a windy dreich day here.
Have a great day fellas!

Possibly the best shave I've had with these SE blades. Shaved off most of the 48 hours' growth in the first pass.
Then I seem to struggle to get very close in some areas without irritation (I cheated an used a cartridge for this).

I am finding the V2 Sabre is just so easy to use, it feels as though i have been using it for years. Today i went for an ATG pass then XTG pass for an easy, comfortable BBS finish.
Enjoy your Sunday all.

My Shave today consisted of...
Prep 3P Pre shavecream.
Brush Goodfellas Smile Wild hog.
Soap Wholly Kaw Project leather.
Razor Blackland Vector.
Blade Feather Pro Super (6).
Post Project leather splash.
Aftershave Czech and Speake no88.

After yesterday's shenanigans with the Red dwarf crew and Colin Baker etc the wife is more than happy.
I like the Wholly Kaw soap, never had a Donkey milk base before and by the looks of it this should last a while and it has a punch in your face scent, right up my street.
An easy two pass shave and I look as handsome as ever and smell great.
A quick observation is that the Czech and Speake stuff soon weakens scent wise after about 2 hours and for the price I was expecting more staying power.
Nearly forgot the Coffee tin in the photo is my new blade bank, I thought it would be ideal.

Enjoy the day ahead.

Razor Whityle
Blade Wilkinson Sword
Brush Yaqi Hongcha
Soap Rockwell Barbershop
Splash Noble Otter Barrbarr
The Whityle gave a very good bbs shave with settings 2,4,6 the roller guard makes it smooth smooth smooth however if you go over a section more than once it smears the residual lather giving the appearance of not that close of a shave. Seemed to happen more at the lower setting than at 6. It’s really a cool razor not slippery with wet hands worth the few bucks it costs
