Face lathering brush.

Hey guys,

I've taken to face lathering as of late, my brush at the moment is an omega 48 boar, it's massive and a little rough on my face.

What would you guys reccomend around about £30, I would like it to be soft on my face and smaller than the giant boar but not tooo small as I have large hands.

Thanks in advance!

Can you stretch to £38?

If so I would buy one of Peter's super 2 bands. See the January 26th entry in his blog below:

£30 won't really get you much quality in the badger department and as I understand Fido doesn't have those two bands in stock. I'm not a fan but as you are used to boar I'd go for one of the smaller boar brushes that Semogue produces.

Cheers for the replies guys.

Aww man, not in stock. Even £30 was pushing the boat out so probably for the best haha. My omega boar aint the softest, is a semogue boar going to be any gentler on the skin?

How does something like a commodore x1 fit in the scheme of things, would one of them be any good?

A boar frequently recommended by avid face latherers is Omega 80265, another one is Semogue 620 and also the Semogue 830.
For around £20+ you should be able to get a 2nd hand NF badger brush as well.

I cannot speak on your Omega 48, but the 31064 I have is pretty gentle on the face, for sure (at the moment, as my Semogue 830 is still breaking in) gentler than the Semogue.

This the brush you guys are talking about <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://theshavingroom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=6927" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?f=11&t=6927</a><!-- l --> ?

If this is suitable for face lathering I might have to get a PM sent out sharpish!

You usually get what you pay for with Simpson unless you particularly like small brushes or use them for travel I wouldn't get it just to fit your budget.

You could try the 404 mix that should be softer than what you are using and it will soften with use if you don't get the NF.

yes, this is the one we were referring to
this brush is an all-rounder actually, you won't regret trying it out or having it in your den
take a look at Fido's original thread when this brush came out

and yes, the 404 mix (as antdad said) is another good option

Vulfix 404 boar/barger mix
Semogue 1520 or 630
Omega 80625/10066
amigo, you got me confused now
630 or may be 620 is what you meant?

oh, and in order not to confuse the person who started the thread and was asking the question, it's Omega 80265, not 80625.
