SOTD: Saturday 6 January - Friday 12 January 2024.

Quite a nice shave today, been enjoying a change of DE from the vintage and fatips I have been using.

Pearl Blaze
Oumo Badger (HMW Silk Knot)
Bluebird K7
Gillette Perma Sharp Super (1)
Nivea balm

Simple shave, good results, enjoyed it that much I went for a third tidy up pass, something I rarely do.

Enjoying the Pearl Blaze as it just does the job, I am tempted to add the Pearl Hammer to the collection after a bit of review reading and procrastination first.

Stay well all.

Razor = Parker Injector
Blade = Gillette Platinum Plus ( 1 )
Brush = Alpha 400 Travel Synthetic
Soap = Signature’s Londinium Sample
Splash = Myrsol Blue
Balm = Loccitane Cade
IMG_0497.jpegAfter receiving the Parker on loan from @NotTheStig along with some blades & some soap samples from Signature this could only be the shave for me.
I do have have 4 Signature soaps but i definitely need this one in my life,
And top drawer and for me pretty much unrivalled scent wise.
I could quite easily use it exclusively if i had to,
Signature is definitely in my top 5 with this scent being right at the top of the tree.
The Parker i’m in two minds about,
i’m unsure if it’s the razor or the blade i wasn’t so keen on.
i say that but i had a great 3 pass shave with zero issues so it’s weird for me to say there’s just something that wasn’t quite right.
i’ll use the same blade in my Pal injector & see how i get on there.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the razor or the blade but there’s just something i’m not sure of.
Until Tomorrow
Stay Safe

Thursday 11 January

Simple combo today,
Williams soap
Tatara
Super Silver 3x
Simpsons Wee Scot

Soap gives a good lather but tends to dry quickly so in order no to rush I work cheeks and neck separately. The soap also leaves a mild irritation.
The blade is still excellent and the Tatara needs no more superlatives than it has already received.
The Wee Scot is a bit of an enigma to me. Why make a brush this small? Travel brushes don’t need to be quite this small. It spreads lather no problem but isn’t cheap. Perhaps it is made by apprentices learning their trade?

Have a great day fellas!

I had read that that is exactly why they made the wee scot, it was supposed to test the knot makers skill. Despite its diminutive size it generates a surprisingly large amount of lather though.

A wonderfully comfortable, close shave with the Feather razor. This is a razor that just works, for me, undoubtedly mild but still sufficiently efficient to do a good two pass shave. The lather was good too.

My Shave today consisted of...

Prep Hot shower with Signature soaps shower scrub.
Brush Yaqi lucky dice.
Soap Geo F Trumpers Rose.
Razors Occam's O.R.E.N & Gillette Raz=r
Blade Feather Pro Super.
Bowl Captains Choice Obsidian Copper.
Aftershave Jean paul gaultier Scandal.

Final shave today with this blade as I have noticed a considerable drop in it's sharpness.
A great shave and time to break out the Scandal and smell amazing.
Have a great day ahead everyone.

Brush: Highlander Chubby
Soap: HoM Beloved
Razor: Gillette Slim
Blade: Wizamet
Post: HoM Beloved AS, Balm & EDP

Quick change to the setup for the week. My collection of brushes is heavy on the naturals, but I got a hankering (no idea why) to pick up a new synthetic and I was eyeballing some of the Simpson efforts, specifically the Colonel in sovereign as I love the Best version. Be interested to hear if anyone has given one a bash though.

Luckily though I managed to reign myself in a little. Took a gander at what I had in hand and decided upon the infinitely capable Highlander. I suspect it doesn't have as much splay as the Colonel might give (but who knows). Regardless, it's a lather monster which, with the slim, ended in a wonderful shave, good times.

Hope everyone has a grand day.

Cheers

Marc
