A fantastic Razor/Blade combo, non-aggressive blades work really well in aggressive razors..Superb.

Finishing the shave off with very generous splash of my favourite "Face Freezer" Alcolado Glacial Mentholated Splash.

My face is feel silky smooth & very cool.

Enjoy your day, ladies & gentlemen.

Mon 7th aug
Vulfix 404 mixed
Tabac
Mongoose B3 polished
Schick Proline Type P [ 1 ]
Alum Rub/ Rinse off
Tabac A/S Lotion

My first proper Shave with this Razor, as I found that the Super Pro was not for me. Life is hectic at the moment, small chores seem to take longer. Not looking at Forum a lot.

The Shave was as smooth and close as Usual, but the Proline which is so forgiving, does bite if you overdo it
on polishing up so got a couple of weepers. Think a trip into Town is on the Cards!, then big Brunch as off to
London for Athletics .

SOTD and mini review

Prep: Warm water splash
Razor: WK Hydro (6)
Brush: Simpsons Chubby Synthetic
Soap: BBA shave cream sample
Post: BBA Aftershave balm

First use of the BBA products, I'm not too wordy so thought I'd split into positive and negative for me, YMMV:

Cream

Positive - lather explosion with little effort, nice bright white leather, slick, cushioning, protective giving a comfortable shave.

Negative - Strong cologne scent, I tend to enjoy more natural 1 dimensional scents, left a lot of residue on the razor/brush/sink, I'm not a fan of the 'modern' branding (can't pin what it is).

Balm

Was surprised at the chocolate colour!

Positive - feels nice on the skin, conditioned my skin nicely, feels a quality excellent product.

Negative - took quite a bit of rubbing into my skin to get rid of the colour (it seemed to highlight the rougher areas of left over stubble), this caused some redness that quickly settled.

I've a few more samples to test out before I make a final decision of purchase, it was quite enjoyable to be able to test it out rather than purchase and pray!

pass around Rocnel SE-G

Prep....Shower~Olive Oil soap
Razor ....Rocnel SE-G
Blade.....Gem SS
Soap....Figaro P.160 Tallow NOS
Brush....Razorock Synthetic
Bowl....Little Wren Pottery
Post .....BBA PS Balm
Scent....bond number 9 New York , oil from Mr Perfume

Shave one......
Ok so the blade only wants to go in one way, got stuck and had to yank it out..... Not a good start, turn the blade around and in it went!
Lathered up with the great P.160 a great Italian soap so I used my Italian flag coloured Razorock synth. Lovely brush.
The shave, lots of blade feel, slightly uncomfortable comb but a very close shave, I did pick up two small scratches on my cheek about 3mm long , I don't know how but it happend and I noticed a few blood spots here and there, so out with the alum.
I got a very close shave, maybe too close but it's my first shave with this razor so I will put it down to user error this time.
I have that tingly face feel that you get when you have over done it but the BBA PS Balm helped a great deal but it's still tingling :)
Tomorrow I will use a Pal Super blade and see how things go.
Finished with number 9 New York rubbed here and there , wonderful scent.
So untill tomorrow ....

Wishing one and all a great day........:)

@Ferry-shave Tag as requested mate.

Prep: Shower
Razor: Treet 1912 Baton handle
Blade: ER Corrux NOS (5)
Brush: Vie Long / Tuxedo
Soap: Palmolive Stick
Aftershave: Simple Moisteriser
EDP: Miller Harris Fleurs de Sel

This morning I stayed away from the Feox and gave the blade the lightest of ten laps on leather only and this is the smoothest it has felt thus far, not the sharpest but smoother, these old blades do have a soft "velvety" face feel to them that is just not present with stainless.

Even though I have been especially careful about wiping drying and stropping this blade after every use there is some rust
between the blade and the spine as the spines on these old blades are steel and not aluminium like modern SE shaving blades.

Regards
Dick.

Morning Dick, that's a great looking little razor, I like the handle, easy to grip I should think. :) P.

SOTD - Cool water shave.
Pre shave; face wash and cool towel
Brush; simpsons Colonel best badger
Razor; Fatboy with new Polsilver SI
Cream; T&H Apsley
Post shave; alum block cool water splash

I recently did a mini resto project on my fatboy as the blade gap wasn't set right amongst other things so I factory reset it, it was out by about 5 thou! (not sure what happened to my thread I'll get it sorted), did a two pass WTG/XTG on setting 4 and using nothing but cool water the lather seemed to behave differently a much easier lather and one thing I did notice is how much more audible it is shaving and hearing the feedback from the razor blade cutting the stubble (48 hour growth).
Now the reason I tried this was because I found an interesting read from the early 1900's with the recomendation of cool water instead of hot water, the theory being the cool water shrinks the skin and tightens it and the stubble stands straight and is easier to cut, this will explain the more audible feedback I got after shaving about 20-30 minutes my skin warmed back up and in theory it swells slightly and just covers your fresh cut stubble not inducing ingrown hairs and my face definitely felt smoother and my chin which is a problem area looked much better.
Of course this is a YMMV case but I definitely had a better shave I shall continue the rest of the week with this as I'm back to shaving daily tomorrow.

Good Morning Paul
This razor together with the GEM Junior 1912 Baton handle are my favourite 1912's, they are the most ergonomic of any razor handle I own although they are perhaps somewhat less than attractive. The Treet has tiny teeth similar to a Micromatic clog -pruf but it does not really shave or even feel any different from the GEM version with the standard head. I suspect Treet just wanted their razor to be a bit different.

Dick

Pre shave: Hot shower with L'Occitaine cade
Straight Razor: "Autocrat", (on loan) Not a clue what the size is but it is small and following a strop extremely sharp. :)
DE Razor: Gillette Fat Bay
Blade: Polsilver SI. #1
Soap: NSS Lemon, Basil & Mandarin.
Brush: Simpsons Best 22mm
Post: Thayers Witch Hazel Unscented
Splash: DR Harris Arlington
Cologne: DR Harris Traditional.

For reference, this is only my #12 shave with a straight razor and I have only achieved one pass.
In saying that I am proud to report no blood was spilt. :D

It is a long, long, learning curve with regards to straight shaving IMO but one I want to pursue. I am in no way confident yet to continue with a 2nd pass.
As a result I relied on the Fat boy (again on loan) to sort me out.
Using the Polsilver SI for the first time with this razor and dialling it to #8, I wanted a close shave. #4 for my 3rd pass.

I must confess I felt some discomfort with this shave and maybe I was trying too hard with the straight. :(

The NSS soap as always proved an excellent all rounder but I think I tried too hard this evening attempting to achieve the ultimate BBS shave.

I have a "sore" neck but don't tell anyone guys. ;)

Witch Hazel sorted me out but I must confess I should have left the scents this evening.

Enough said.
Wayne:)

Another great photo and write-up Wayne.
