Hi, mates!

Forgot to post last weekend shaves, where I tried for the first time this beauty called Timeless Scalloped 0.95:

What can I say? Man, this thing is like Thor's Hammer! It's huge (100 mm. handle), solid and heavy! About how it shaves, it is more on the aggressive side like a read here, but not too much (not as bitey as a Muhle R41 or Fatip OC f.e.), so if you manage it with care using little pressure with a sharp blade like this Gillette Yellow O'clock you can get close shaves with little effort.

So for now I'm happy with it because is more less what I was looking for in the substitute of my beloved Weber (although I'm missing it a lot...): a more beautiful, effective razor.

I'll write a short review once I test it with more blades.

Cheers!

Pre: Bloom Water
Soap: Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber
Razor: Focus R48 Dynamic SE
Blade: Rotbart Extra Dunn (2)
Brush: Graydog Cocobolo Keyhole Custom Boar
Post: Alum Block
A/S: Alt Innsbruck
Balm: Bulldog Sensitive A/S Balm

I was a bit wary about using the Focus Dynamic after the last time I used it where it caused me serious irritation. But my curiosity got the better of me…!! This time however, no problems. I can only put the last time I used this, and it was such a bad shave, to it being a bad edge on the blade. (And maybe a little bit of my crap technique!) This was like night and day to the last shave when I used it.
Very comfortable to use once you find the angle and a very enjoyable shave. The alum block din't give much feedback at all. Ghost town barber and Alt Innsbruck are a fantastic pairing.

Hi Kevy,
Hope you are well. :)

I used this razor for the first time this evening without snapping the blade in half.
I watched your video that was thankfully supplied by @Blackmass , (Thank you for that Rob) and have come to the conclusion, that this razor is so badly designed.
I love the concept and idea. (perhaps:rolleyes:)

It is futuristic and has many good qualities as far as the "Handle" design is concerned but relying on the fact that a "snapped" blade will help the edge to "stay still" in the razor is very much hit or miss.

I would suggest it should be scrapped with immediate effect.
Obviously everyone will have there own opinion but I want to give my honest one.

Thank you for your time and effort and for sharing with your video. @Kevy !
Wayne :)

Pre shave
Hot towel

Bowl
Saponificio varesino grail lathering bowl

Brush
Saponificio Varesino Turtle Shell 2 band

Razor
Gillette Slim Adjustable setting 3

Blade
Gillette Silver Blue 1st use

Shave cream
Body Shop Macca Root

Post Shave
Thayers Lemon Witch Hazel

Awesome shave really enjoyed using the new brush, knot feels so dense compared to what I've used before with super soft tips, good scrub but not too much which is to my preference having sensitive skin and good backbone. Was a real treat !!

Don't have much to compare it to the only other badger I have used is in my rubberset 400 and is what I believe to be a TGN HMW 3 band, I thought it was 24mm but think it may be a 26mm....it's no where near as dense as the SV !! I have a Morris & Fordran 30mm 2 band on order so I'm looking forward to comparing the difference. The only other badger I have is a TOBS pure badger with the Edwardian handle but I've never used it to be honest it just sits there looking pretty lol

M&F very nice. Never tried one and they are right at the top of my list to buy next. Please tag me when you've had chance to compare it to the SV.

Sotd - Tuesday - 26/9 -

Razor - Merkur Slant
blade - Lodz Polsilver (3)
brush - Vie Long Epsilon - brown horse fan
soap - MT Lavender
post - witch hazel
a/s - Nivea sensitive
balm - Neil test lavender (A).

Result - great.

For me, there is nothing finer than shave two or three with a proper Polsilver blade. In a razor that you know well. Stress free. Still keeping the kit simple for the balm test. Thanks to whoever raised the idea in my mind to go look at my horse brushes. @nolisco - perhaps? The Epsilon brown fan is a monster. It took an age to break in. You still can't tell the difference between exfoliating and just losing the top layer of the dermis. Either way - healthy and invigorating. Enjoy your shaves. Yours - I.

Evening Iain.
Great set up mate.

My next desire is to try a horse hair brush.
Am I correct in assuming Vie Long are the ones to look out for?

It's between Vie Long and Epsilon. This is the one I used today, a little bit on the small side but a great brush, decently priced too https://www.themodernman.co.uk/vie-long-long-handled-horse-hair-shaving-brush.html people turn their noses up at them, never had an issue myself. They do reek for the first few uses (about a dozen), prefer them to badger and boar in truth.

Yes @Digimonkey we were talking about them a few weeks back, discussing small brushes. You recommended a small Vie Long brush.

Prep: Hot shower and L'Oreal Charcoal face wash
Pre: Bloom water
Razor: Razorock Stainless Steel Hawk (on loan from @Acer89 )
Razor blade: Kai Captain mild 'Pinks'
Brush: Thater 4126/2 (2 Band)
Bowl: Little Wren Pottery
Soap: Wickhams Irish Fern
Post: Pitralon Classic aftershave

Second shave with The Hawk. Tried the Kai 'Pink' (with guard) this time and had a much better shave than with the Proline. I found the Proline to be rough and left me tender. The Kai was much better especially for buffing on the touch-ups on my neck.

Finished off with Pitralon with no sign of feedback whatsoever and great face feel too.

Thanks to James for the loan of the razor.

Cheers
Rob

Surely that brush must be your favourite?
It is absolutely beautiful.

Are you going to put any of your others on BST?

Just asking, that's all. ;):p:D
