Excellent I shall indulge in something in the near future.
My in laws came over today.
Hey it was great fun.
Actually this is like shaving.
It's turning the mundane into the extra ordinary.
A chore into another special part of the day.
I do like that.
I can see it taking a while,
Like shaving to get my technique down.
I am going to concentrate on espresso as I see that it the base of just about everything else.

I'm amazed how clear minded(ish) you still're, I remember being in a cafein haze when I got my machine. You're spot on re concentraiting on the espresso shot, for now.

My shots look nothing like that yet....
Quite airy in comparison.
The crema is ok.
I think I'll get a major improvement when I get good beans and the grinder.
It's a bit bitter I think.
No guinness type crema yet!!
Plus I have not slept for 48 hrs.......

Slick...you can only go by what you know and what you read buuuuut....these guys seem to like the cuisineart over the new dualit and it's cheaper.

This mornings extraction (it looks nice, but I'm using new beans and a couple of secs after this pic was taken everything went sour, even though it came out fairly ok, taste wise):

Looking good.
I've realised that now I'm getting a finer grind I need to pack a little more into the pf.
That said I need to taste a good extraction to have a benchmRk.
I'm not sure at the moment when to stop extracting for example.
This mornings tasted the best yet but I wouldn't hVe taken a piccy of it.

I would clock the extraction (20-25 secs for a double) and never mind how much you get out, then you work out how hard to pack the pf. I would fill the the pf to the edge (you should be able to see a small round crater from where the water comes out). It's then "only" about to balance how fine the grind, how hard to pack and the time for the extraction is :D Have fun!!
 
Oh forgot to mention I'm using telcos finest Colombian.
It's on offer. It tastes good. Prior tommoving a Ton of copped wood I made

Best result yet.
The difference in grinding your own beans is immense.
Plus I loaded the pf a bit more.
Very pleased with this one.
Tasted very smooth Nd rich. No bitterness or harshness.
Cut the extraction off a little earlier too.
Will time extraction tomorrow.
You guys are getting me on the right lines.

getting better results with both the single and double coffee holder.
Finding that the single well filled is good for one cup of coffee at the mo.
had sunday dinner with a few people round. Luckily they only wanted Americanos.....
Cuppucino is just a little way off yet.
