hmmm... will i be better off with a styptic pencil rather than an alum block?

No. These actually serve a different purpose as they are not made of exactly the same substance.

In addition, the styptic pencil will leave white deposits on your face.

Rinse your face after the shave (first with warm water then with cold), then hold the alum block and glide it over your skin.

Some do it after the warm rinse, others after the cold rinse of the face. I am not sure on this and still experimenting.

Welcome to the "fairly" multi-lingual TSR Jonas - Copenhagen airport is the most efficient airport i've ever been to :eek: landed , breezed through customs and as the train service was cancelled so taxis were waiting for us free of charge as an apology ! ... on the downside the beer was bloody expensive but i won't hold that against you :D

i'll use this thread to ask some general questions. i hope people will notice and answer.

i'm on the look out for some sort of travel solution. i want something nice and well made, in leather.
this one would be ideal <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://www.theshavingroom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=87&p=1251&hilit=travel+bag#p1251" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?f=4&t=87&p=1251&hilit=travel+bag#p1251</a><!-- l -->, but is also a little out of my budget. plus i would still have to source a nice canister/case for my brush. (i don't like those small telescope brushes)
if anyone could point me to where i can buy something like the above cheap it would be very much appreciated.

alternatively this is rather neat:

if there's someone on here with a nice kit they don't use anymore, then hit me!

I've been watching this, but probably won't buy it:

i won't buy it either. but thanks a bunch.
it lacks the brush canister wich is kind of crucial to a travel set imho.

Hey d ...

... whilst poking around on the bay for junk to spend my pennies on I came across his and though of yorself ...

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400112957396&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT</a><!-- m -->

There are others at buy it no prices of £40 is, but this one is particularly nice as it is unused. Let me know what you think.

I recently found one of these whilst clearing my dad's place out, except it has a soap dish too. If I can get my stuff together I'll post a few pics.
