Friday 5th July

Prep: Hot Towels then lather and wipe off (per Lynn Abrams)
Soap: MWF - Face Lathered (per Jose Luis Tome on YouTube!)
Brush: Simpson Chubby 1 Super
Razor: Rene de Bruyne (Belgium) 13/16” (newly acquired from Rob!)
After: Bluebeard's Revenge Balm
EDT: Czech & Speake Cuba Cologne

A superb really BBS shave with an amazing, amazing razor. Just twenty strokes on my Neil Miller paddle strop and it was fantastic. Amazing sound as well!

David

Another go with my new Futur today...

Prep: hot water rinse, proraso pre-post
Soap: MWF / Kent BK2
Razor: Merkur Future set at 2.5, new Personna Lab Blue
After: Alum (to stem the flow) followed by DR Harris Marlborough followed by Boots No. 7 Balm

The shave quality of my newly acquired Futur seems to be at odds with the pass around version. I'm not sure why, but this one bites like a rabid dog. I haven't had so many nicks and weepers since I borrowed the R41. Not entirely happy with my purchase at the moment. :(

Greetings

Friday 5th July 2013

Razor: Valet Autostrop (Runner Guard model)
Blade: Feather Stainless SE
Brush: Burma Shave
Soap: La Toja Stick grated into a container
Aftershave: Astral Cream (light)

A nice comfortable and close shave from this last model of Valet Autostrop.

Regards
Dick.

Soap: Tabac stick
Brush: My Big Floppy Vulfix Best Badger
Razor: Ever Ready Streamline
Blade: Treet Single Edge #1
Post: Alum, Humphrey's Witch Hazel, Liz Earle ASB

Result: First time with a Treet SE blade and the jury is out. Will have to see how it performs on the second shave. That said, a damn fine shave this morning.

Have a good POETS day, gents.

Friday 5th July.
Hot Shower
Merkur 38C Barber Pole
Israeli Persona (Last shave with it)
Silver tip (German)
Truefitt & Hill Rose shaving cream (Sample size supplied by a member on here with some other bits and bobs that I bought.
Pecksniff's ASB
Pecksniff's Cologne to finish.
Three passes no touch ups (Is my technique getting better as the last few shaves there have been no touch ups required)
Result BBS again.

First use of the Truefitt & Hill Lathered up very well indeed most impressed. I tried the Pororaso Soap last week and was less impressed very hard to make a good lather. (Bearing in mind that could be me needing a different method for soap)

With this DE Shaving, different creams different soaps different razors and different blades every day is a school day adventure.

Musgo Real glyce classic soap
Kropp 5/8"
New Forest Tubby 1 finest silver tip in Tigris Perla
Vitos Extra Super Shaving Soap - Coconut
Proraso A/S
4711 Eau De Cologne

Must try harder

St. James Founders Reserve hot towel mask
Groomed shave cream
EJ boar
Progress on 3, 2, 1.5 with Gillette Super Thin
Boots Freshwood balm

Good and smooth with no soreness, but patchy and lots of red bumps round the neck. Not a great look for my second interview.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/Razi Super Stainless
TGQ Leatherneck SS
Neutrogena oil free moisture
TGQ 'Leatherneck' extrait

Went nuts this morning and gave myself a TGQ day. This stuff went extinct a few years ago and I have just a tiny bit left of both the soap and fragrance. The soap has lost most of the scent by now, but performance wasn't affected at all. The extrait still has plenty of pop left, although the small bottle is almost empty. This is probably my all time favorite fragrance.

Here's a link to Colleen's defunct site. Very sad when she shut down......a true legend over at SRP and a really nice person. She has a thread over there of maybe 30-40 pages I would guess. Oh well. http://www.thegentlemensquarter.com/index.php
BBS results,
