pearl open comb r89
personna med prep
shavemac #25 silvertip
TOBS st james shaving cream
alcolado glacial/ 444
montana parfum d'homme edt

a good close shave. usually have to have a little faff aligning the blade with the pearl, and tonight i couldnt be arsed, so i thought id try the top cap from a muhle r89 and its worked very well.

EVENING

Prep: run, hot shower
Razor: "Digress" (4, 3.5, 3.5)
Blade: Vintage Scottish Perma Sharp
Brush: Vintage Simpson Butterscotch "Number 3" Re knotted with 26mm Silvertip
Soap: MWF Face Lathered
A/S: Myrsol "Blue" (Thank you Sm304)
Balm: Bluebeards Revenge

Close, clean, comfortable shave. Razor and bade combo is outstanding.....

Have a great evening!

Weber Polished, Bulldog
Gillette Bleue Extra (3)
Semogue SOC 2-band
Proraso green soap (old)
Proraso Aftershave balm
Serge Lutens Daim Blonde

I'm narrowing down my rotation - it feels good! Down to three razors, three brushes, three soaps (plus a cream), three aftershaves, three fragrances - including travel kit. I now need to start working through my thousands of blades! 2014: A Blade Odyssey?

I was complemented on the Daim Blonde by several people today. Odd, considering it's a pretty oddball choice: prominent notes being apricot, heliotrope, iris and musk (a touch of leather too).

Wednesday

Gillette face wash
Proraso pre
Supermax cream
New Forest 1901
EJ DJ89
Sputnik blade
Alum and witch hazel gel
Proraso As

Better shave with this set up than I have had over the last few days

WEDNESDAY EVENING

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: Gillette Aristocrat #16
Blade: Polsilver (5)
Brush: Neep malachite Aztec
Cream: Fitjar Shea Pleasure cream - scuttle lathered
Post: Witch hazel and Proraso balm

Time to bin the Polsilver I think. Starting to get a little tuggy right at the end. Five shaves isn't bad though!

First even use of this Fijar cream. The shea butter makes it feel lovely.

All whilst listening to Floyd's 99 Barbershop Radio Station on InTune app.

Result: Normal service resumed this morning after yesterday's shambles. Great lather from the Ogallala and the Ikon and Personna was a fine team. A special relationship, you might say. Anyway, I'm claiming a BBS this morning.

Happy Independence Day to you all, especially our American members. Two years ago I was in San Francisco on the waterfront drinking Jeremiah Root, listening to live music and watching fireworks. Happy Days.

All the best gents,

Jon

Prep face wash L'Occitane sandalwood soap
Razor Hart 6/8 in rosewood satin finish
Strop Kanayama cordovan #8000
Brush Bill Jack Le Tuft chubby 1.5 in lignum vitae
Cella crema da barba
Alum & Thayers toner
Kiehl's aftershave balm
Kiehl's original musk blend No 1 Edt

This is the second shave with the Hart after my first shave proved to be fairly disappointing, so a major reworking of the edge was called for, so back to the low grit wheels total removal of the edge including the bevel on the 150 grit wheel, then onto the 300 grit wheel up through the compounds, then back to the Naniwa's new bevel reset up through the progression pasted bench strop linen suede leather, now she shaves as a Hart razor should shave, well the difference between the edge and shaves are like night and day beautifully smooth, as good an edge as I have on any razor I own.

Thursday, 4th July 2013

Pre: White Proraso Pre
Cream: Truefitt & Hill No10
Brush: Semogue 1305
Razor: Merkur Progress
Blade: Voskhod
Post: Alum followed by e-shave cucumber balm

Well, first shave with the Progress and I am very impressed! Did first pass on 2, then switched up to 3 for XTG and 4 ATG and got a very close, smooth and comfortable shave with no cuts at all (which is pretty rare for me) so I am definitely a convert! And I actually like the little Bakelite knob which most people aren't keen on.
