Excellent - now off to the supermarket before it becomes chaos out there.

Saturday 6th July 2013
Prep: Shower
Razor: GEM 1912 Damaskeene
Blade: Feather Stainless SE + spine
Brush: Vulfix 406 Boar
Soap: Wilkinson Sword Stick grated into a container
Aftershave: Simple Balm

A good shave but that's the feather blade finished, it was the new blade I used for yesterdays Valet shave with a spine added. I just cannot get more than two shaves from these blades.

Regards
Dick.

Saturday:

Professor Blighty's Harlequin soap (soap of the week)
Semogue 2012 SE
Long Comb New/JEC handle
Rapira Swedish Supersteel
Professor Blighty's Green Ginger AS
James Bronnley EdT

I haven't used the Prof's soap for ages, but it was fantastic. The Harlequin is a lovely summer scent. First use of the Rapira blade and it was great, easily comparable to the 7 o'clock SharpEdge I usually use. Top job finished nicely with the green ginger AS.

Plus I actually took a SOTD pic today!

Morning all,

Shower prep with Droyt face soap
Proraso Pre Green
Proraso Green cream
Gillette Super Adjustable ( set on 5 )
Treet Platinum blade
Vulfix 404
Proraso A/S

Great 3 pass , smooth and close.

Shower
Soap: DR Harris Windsor (still on last week's soap of the week!)
Brush: Tulip 2 (so soft and dense but I'm now thinking it's too big...)
Razor: Progress at 5.
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Rinse: Thayers
A/S: DR Harris Pink

Excellent shave.

This was my £25 purchase from Mankind but swapped with someone who wanted the long handle version. It really is an excellent razor. I think I'd prefer a knurled handle instead of the fluted style but other than that I can't fault it.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
Kirby/Wilkinson Light Brigade (NOS)
Kent SS
Barbershop Bay Rum AS (just exactly the right amount of burn for me....almost none).
Malizia 'Vetyver' EdT

Jeez I got a close shave today. Been a while since getting the Kirby wet and today it called to me. Sometimes nothing else will do the trick and shut that minkey (best Peter Sellers voice) the hell up. The way that head feels on my face is a treat.

The razor's one I have to go slower than usual with and definitely paying attention to detail is a good idea. Years ago I gave myself the worst divots ever with this thing....they were like two small facial pot bunkers. No warning at all when that happened......nasty. My own fault totally.

So pairing that thing up with a nice and fresh sharp old Wilkinson blade was a smart choice. Really an enjoyable and unusually smooth shave, with not even a hint of red in the lather.

BBS results,

Martin

I think he will father more than a few new monkeys with that set up. Very nice.

Looks like the brush handle might be an old Ever Ready.

Warm shower
Hot flannel
Speick cream scuttle lathered
Simpson 56 best badger brush
Gillette 1925 Big fellow New improved head
Sputnik (1)
Cold rinse
Witch hazel
Speick aftershave

A lovely shave from todays set up. The Big fellow having its first outing a solid heavy duty razor very nice. The Sputnik blade as smooth as silk, care to use a light touch with the Big fellow brought a fine result.
