I genuinely think the 3one6 is a bit in the aggressive side

They are 40099's and were about £4, a few pennies more than the 10077's and are roughly the same size as the latter.

What budget boars have you used? Omegas shouldn't be too rough, they generally split pretty well. They have issues with consistency though. One Omega I used recently is a little prickly but the 10077 I used today has soft tips.

Not many boars will be as soft as a synth though.

Those are the ex VAT prices. Both were £4.80. I never thought I'd prefer synthetic, But I'm changing my mind.
Omega has too many lines in brushes, and a single shop would have difficulty in stocking them all, IMO.

I bought mine from Makeup for about £4 with VAT. This is the 10077,

I prefer the 10077 to the 10065. The 10077 has a 22mm knot with a 50mm loft, whilst the 10065 is a touch bigger with a 24mm knot with a 55mm loft.

That brush is £3.86 + VAT = £4.63 The price shading is to do with the handles and the knot size. All have the same boar which, as you mention, may soften with use. Thanks for the information and the site link.
EDIT. I beg your parsnips, I didn't know VAT was included.

It's the wrong handle, it should be a fat handle.

According to someone on badger and blade, they came on a few NEW models made in England.
