SOTD Sat. 27th April to Fri. 3rd May 2013

Sunday night

It is my birthday tomorrow and due to lack of time in the morning I opened all my presents last night - good pile of shaving stuff which I will introduce over the next few weeks but I also had a new short handle Merkur Progress so had to try it out:

Gillette face wash
Proraso pre
Proraso green cream
Merkur progress (set to 2)
Gillette rubie (2- taken out of my other kit)
Witch hazel
T&H no 10 balm

An excellent shave as this was the first with this razor - started low on the dial and look forward to seeing the results as I turn up the scale

Happy Birthday!

Monday:

Tabac
Semogue SOC Boar
Aristocrat Junior
Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge
T&H Trafalgar AS

I shaved quite late yesterday so just did a bit of a tidy up this morning as there wasn't much stubble to shift. Job done.

Prep, Hot Shower
Soap, Cella (soap of the week)
Brush, Simpson Duke 3 Best
Razor, Gillette New with iKon Bulldog handle
Blade, Gillette SuperThin
Balm, Barbershop Bay Rum
Cologne, Opium for men

The Duke did a marvellous job of lathering the Cella and gave me an excellent cushioning lather, it does seem harder work to lather than MWF, but I do love the scent of it.

Greetings

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso pre-shave
Soap: Cella (soap of the week) + Grapefruit EO
Brush: New Forest 2213
Bowl: Steve Woodhead Pedestal #2
Razor: Merkur Progress @2
Blade: Tiger Superior Stainless (2)
After: Alum, Superdrug Forest Fresh AS, Nivea ASB

Tried adding a drop of Grapefruit Essential Oil to the Cella but don't think it improved the almonds and cherry scent so won't bother using EO with Cella tomorrow.

I scoop out a little chunk of Cella into the bowl for lathering but always find I have missed a bit stuck in the ridges of the bowl on washing up. The New Forest brush has quite a stiff backbone but even so some soap always seems to cling to the bowl.

Anyhow loads of great lather. I think the sound of the lather goes a lot quieter when the lather is suitable whipped. Handy indicator which seems more apparent than when using other soaps or creams.

Result, no problems at all and think I should be using Cella more often.

sun night

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: ERN 13/16"  "Crown & Sword", extra hollow

Some would say a heavy cold is the best time to be using Tabac, though personally I quite like it. Either way, I used the soap and have the cold, and here we are.
