I decided to try my first "soap mix" tonight and thought it rather successful - so much so that I thought I'd share it with you!
I started with a 50p stick of Erasmic soap and a 50p stick of Palmolive:
I don't really know the difference between old/new formulations, but these were the ingredients:
I then grated them both onto a plate, mixed the shavings by hand and then put into my newly (charity-shop) purchased, perfect-for-the-task, bowl. I flattened them as best as a I could by hand and then added a splash of boiling water. I fashioned a tinfoil "hat", placed it over the flattened shavings and then put a glass jar of equal(-ish) surface area over the top:
I then filled the jar with boiling water, tightened the lid and placed several heavy books on top of it and left until the water in the jar cooled.
I removed the jar and foil and then test lathered it - it was superb! In both smell and function it performed fantastically - better than either one on its own. I gave it a wee test on my face with 2 strokes of my razor and it seemed more than capable. I'll use the tinfoil hat as a lid in the future to prevent it drying out too much.
In conclusion, I am thrilled with my total outlay of £1 for 100g, superb performing soap!
