SOTD: Saturday 15 June - Friday 21 June 2024.

It's tough at any age, but 41 is just wrong. My condolences my friend.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to you.

That’s absolutely shit mate. To lose a friend suddenly like that. One minute they’re here and the next they’re gone.
I’m very sorry for you loss. Please stick around and continue to be apart of the forum.
Keep strong and keep safe. Love and respects. J.

19 June

Mitchell’s Wool Fat
Plisson synthetic
Ikon Deluxe DLC
Gillette Silver Blue
Proraso Sensitive balm

I missed yesterday’s shave due to a stinky head cold. Today’s shave made up for that. The Mitchell’s created a super easy lather with the Plisson brush. The Plisson synthetic has been a favourite since I purchased it, as has the Ikon Deluxe. I thought, for a while, that all other open comb razors shaved as well as the Ikon, but several purchases and disposables later I realised that was not true… and I have made so many purchases since.
Did I mention this was an excellent shave. Close and very comfortable in two passes.

SOTD 19-Jun

Brush: Simpson M7
Soap: Caties Bubbles Revolution
Razor: WR2
Blade: Wizamet
Post: Caties Bubbles Revolution AS & EDT

Cracking shave this morning, today's theme target was the Juneteenth, and to use a soap manufactured in what was the Union. Had never heard the phrase before, only when I googled did I realise what it was. Anyway, looks like Caties Bubbles is made in New Jersey, so that should cover me.

Then there's the photo scavenger hunt, the aim was Bokeh, had never heard of that one before either, but it's essentially out of focus lights on the background that look like orbs, didn't quite work but it'll do.

Hope everyone has a grand day.

Cheers

Marc

Vintage Wednesday
Pre - Dove Original Cream Bar
Brush - Vintage Culmak Plus - Mühle 23mm Classic Silvertip
Soap - Maca Root / Palmolive stick Superlather
Razor - Ever-ready Streamline
Blade - Personna Injector err! no that did not work - GEM PTFE
Post - Cold water Rinse
Balm - Barts Balm Ben Lomond & Original Cinnamon & Patchouli lotion
A/S - Pashana Original

I should have known better, however, when an idea pops up, it has to be tested - the injector blade in a GEM Razor? although it did not move on my dry arm, it did on the second stroke of the shave, i quickly changed it out to a GEM and carried on, 2 full passes and some touch up for a fine BBS finish.

My condolences @donnie_arko, that is awful news, so young.
Take care all.

Aleppo soap- Shave pre wash
Jayaruh Syn No67
Stirling Baker Street
ER Streamline
Gem S/S ( 4 )
Alcolado Glacial A/S Lotion.

A very unsatisfactory Shave with an old favourite, but my fault as last time out I should have binned the blade. Before my use of AC/SE Razors this was my to go razor.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to you...Earlier this year my work mentor "a great man" took his own life, leaving behind a wife & children. I'm still coming to terms with it now...Regards. -B.

The injector blade works in the Micromatics because of the little tabs in the cap that would normally engage the GEM blade side edge slots, they push the back of an injector blade forward into the blade stops as the cap moves forward. No other GEM type razor will support the injector blade as far as I'm aware.

Razor - EJ89 3D Diamond
Blade - Rapira Swedish Supersteel
Brush - Simpson’s M6
Lather - Arko stick

I’m a day late shaving. I had a Covid booster jab which left me totally knacked. I was still a bit wobbly this morning and almost used my cartridge razor for a totally no-brainer option. Instead I went for the Arko stick… a bang-on faultless lather… and let the razor do the rest. After the last outing with the Rapira, it acquitted itself well this time and is moving back into the “much-loved” corner of the shoe box.

Arko sticks… if they put some poncy scent into it, it would be unbeatable… I’d even pay an extra 3p a stick for it.

Excellent shave, time to settle down and watch some tennis (never been into that football nonsense).

The last few shaves have all revolved around the excellent DG soap and splash. Various brushes but only one razor - the Karve Overlander alu - because most of the shaves required me to look presentable and turn up at a job shortly afterwards - absolutely no room for hacking my nose off accidentally or bleeding on my cameras. Not a good look. For me - and @Mr. Blonde perhaps - all roads lead to the Overlander - I'm not sure how you could hurt yourself with this razor - or a Henson for that matter. Cheers all - shave well - I.
