Mike those old Gillette Blues are supposed to be unusable, as they are pre stainless steel and carbon steel if my memory serves me right. The old stainless steel blades if kept well can still give good shaves but the carbon steel ones are likely to have some kind of oxidation in the fifty plus years after they were made.

Yes silicone coated carbon I believe. I wouldn't recommend shaving with them.

Another try with the Pearl Flexi Tonight setting 4 turned out super smooth but a bit tuggy to start with
