Savonniere du Moulin Shaving Soap & Razorock 400 Limited Edition
Yaqi Tachi w/Windrose Darwin Handle & Treet Platinum (2)
Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla After Shave Lotion

The weight and balance of the head on this alternative handle is absolutely bob-on and permits even a heavy-handed fellow like me to make feather-light glides that have practically no blade feel. I can hear it rasping, which I do like. I am really happy with this purchase and particularly in finding this combo.

Tuesday night is fencing night and I shave after a shower when I get home. Often, I don't get bad shaves ... but they're not great and I have come to ascribe that to my face bein hot and bothered from being in a sweaty mask for the duration of the evening. I've taken to doing just a single with the grain pass and leaving it at that regardless, and that does seem to be working for me. I do like my Wednesday shave when I can clean up after the first pass and get the job done properly, but for Tuesday night shaves ... it's a single pass and with discipline leave it at that.

With this new razor and what I think it probably my most consistent blade which personally I find smooth, tonight's shave feels pretty damn good actually.

Wed 13
Soap & Aftershave PAA Al Fin + A&E Kaizen
Brush Yaqi 26mm Rainbow
Razor Wade & Butcher
Superb lather qualities from this soap but very lightly scented.
Enjoyed a great shave with this hefty wedge razor removing 3 days of growth. This razor's edge was refreshed on the full diamond balsa progression with tape and continuing to the HBA, resulting in a smoother and keener shave...

Why welcome to the silly season you merry gentlemen. Tis the time of the year to be stupid, act immorally, throw up in gutters and generally not be your usual self. Same as any other day for me.

A belated start to the new week of SOTD's and one which was granted permission by 'The board' to be seasonally themed, 'A jolly holly shave'

Since I have entered a little late it is much to my delight that this SOTD will arrive in karaoke format but instead of being the usual protracted trash this one arrives as a little medley of Christmas Carols for you. Awwwwww

And Arghhhhhhhh

I saw three tugs come sailing in
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
I saw three tugs come sailing in
Working Christmas day in the morning.

And what was in those tugs all three?,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day
And what was in those tugs all three?
A miserable Christmas day in the morning?

A salty arsed skipper and motley crew,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
A salty arsed skipper and motley crew,
Screwed on Christmas day in the morning.

And where did they sail these tugs all three?,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day?
And where did they sail these tugs all three?,,
Pissed on Christmas day in the morning?

O they sailed into Liverpool dock,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
O they sailed into Liverpool dock,
Through Gladstone lock in the morning.

And all the ships whistles they shall sound,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
And all the ships whistles they shall sound
Ooops, wrong button in the morning.

And all the Dockers in Seaforth shall sing,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
And all the Dockers in Seaforth shall sing,
Sod off, it’s Christmas day in the morning .

And all the ladies in the bars shall sing,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
And all the ladies in the bars shall sing,
Quickie for fiver on Christmas day in the morning.

And Joyce says she can take all-men,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
And Joyce says she can take all-men
But we’ve tugged all night on Christmas day in the morning.

And some jolly Japanese girls and a rather super looking Yoshi. With a new guitar

We three shavers of TSR are
Bearing razors we shave so far
Sink and fountain
Lather is mounting
Shit, now there’s a scar

O scar of careless, when the blades bite
Scar with bleeding red so bright
Still proceeding, styptic needing
This is not good, this shave is shite

Born to shave in a Liverpool sink
Polsilver Lodz to shave me pink
Shave for ever, beard never
Sometimes I guess I need a shrink

Signature soaps to offer have I
Highlander brush, lather so high
The Athena’s amazing
Blade needs replacing
Reach for the Goose complete with a Kai

O scar of careless, when the blades bite
Scar with bleeding red so bright
Still proceeding, styptic needing
This is not good, this shave is shite

3ONE6 is mine
A razor which brings belief
A life of gathering hairy fluff
Slicing, scything, there’s no denying
I love shaving in the buff

Wondrous shaves behold applies
Razors and blades are just suffice
Al-lu-mi-ni-um, al-lu-mi-ni-um
Not for me, need not apply

O scar of careless, when the blades bite
Scar with bleeding red so bright
Still proceeding, styptic needing
This is not good, this shave is shite

And as finale I will miss out on the musical bit and instead you can exercise your vocal chords without any accompaniment

We wish you merry shaving
We wish you merry shaving
We wish you merry shaving
And a beardless new year

Good lather we bring
To your brush and your sink
We wish you a merry Christmas
And a beardless new year

Hurrah, hurrah for the Japanese and their deliciously beautiful singing ladies.

Nice looking axe and she rides a powerful chopper to boot! What’s not to like there? :cool:

It is a comforting thought that it is less than two weeks to xmas day, after having lived this one since around mid September.

Hence this shave brings with it the theme, 'The 112 days of Christmas'

Try singing that one in less than several hours.

'Thank you. A 14" vibrating baguette, a tin of beans and a bottle of cheap Aldi vodka. Thank you, thank you'
'Beans? What bloody beans?'

Monday evening evolved in to being a very seasonally tired fest due to having to look after sick granddaughters, and other demanding family duties(?). So the way of my daily shave went the way of being non existent. Roll on Tuesday night to rescue my facial fluff fear factor. God, I detest any resemblance of a beard.

And what a cracking shave it turned out to be. Choose wisely, choose that bristle munching monster, the Ikon B1 and its partner in crime, the Super Iridium. Slap on some of that unobtanium Signature coconut soap with the lovely little creation from the Gentleman's groom room and hey voila! Smooth beyond smooth, if such exists.

What a wonderful Tuesday evening.

And the best way to end it all? It just has to be over to three of those 112 Japanese ladies. It is over to Trident....The original line up with the over enthusiastic drummer, Juna

Razor: Blackland Vector
Blade: Feather ProGuard - 15, 6th use
Brush: Simpson Trafalgar T3
Bowl: Kikier Ceramic Bowl
Preshave: Proraso Crema Pre Barba con Olio Di Sandalo Cream
Soap: Hendrix Classics & Co Hidden Goddess (sample) Croap
Balm: Nishman 2in1 Cream And Cologne Balm
Additional Care: Osma Alum
Additional Care: Cold Water

To my regret, I have to report that this Hidden Goddess (for now?) hides her qualities from me. I found this soap very difficult to get a decent foam and the lather tends to 'crawl into the brush' when applied. So I had to pick up a few times to get to my regular amount of lather (for three passes). Strangely enough, the smell, which was prominent when opening the pouch, once the foam was whipped up, also nearly disappeared to the background... And, what it is all ultimately about, am I shaved smooth today? Certainly, although it took much more effort and elbow grease than usual. Of course: your experience may be different.

Wednesday 13 December
Today‘s shining Star, a little early for Christmas but hey it is SuperNova bright. I exaggerate but the razor looks almost new.
The shave was as smooth as I could ever wish for especially teamed up with SV Manna de Sicilia soap. Creamy and fragrant, layered on with an equally smooth vintage travel brush.
And, lest we forget the ubiquitous GEM blade. It seems to me that this blade is the ultimate SE and appears to work in virtually any razor, ancient or modern, in which it can fit.

Have a great day fellas!

Pre - Droyt's Vegetas Glycerine Soap
Brush - Jayaruh #291 Synth Tuxedo Knot
Soap - HWF #1 Patchouli & Cedarwood
Razor - Ever ready 1924 - Windrose handle
Blade - GEM PTFE S/S
Post - Cold water Rinse
Balm - Barts Balm Cinnamon & Patchouli Lotion
A/S - Signature Soap Danum

A very easy shave with the 1924, efficient but safe.
I used it today fitted with a grub screw and the Windrose handle and it worked really well. The head does require a shake out after each rinse as the it does hold on to a lot of water.
I think i have 4 of these razors covering 2 versions, i basically see a difference with the back of the bottom plates.
The one on the left has a flat back edge with a rear cut out.
The one on the right has a raised back edge with less of a cut out.
I may need to take a closer look at the combs

Enjoy your day all.
