Storage for straights?

As long as I can fit that one in, I don't mind. I want something that has a colour-change indicator so I know when the silica gel is saturated -- the little bags don't have any way of telling when they have absorbed as much moisture as they can hold.

loose silica gel(sorry thats what I meant about buying) changes colour as absorbes water and can be dried in the oven and re-used even

Well I already have some of these handy canisters, so I plan on using them. Hence the request that a space could be made available for one if possible. If not, then no problem; I will just find another box that can. I was just asking...

I am not making them so nothing to do with me. I will just saying to you that a slot for silica gel/bags may make it more universal, no need to go in a huff I answered your second question as you said you wanted something that changed colour and was pointing out you can get that for a couple of quid rather than 10, as you said the packets dont.

Well gents, there does seem to be some interest, so keep the suggestions coming and I'll have a think about whether it's doable at a sensible price. Any preferences for materials?

Regarding leather and steel, yes it's the tannins. It doesn't matter much for the short term, but I for one wouldn't store a razor or knife in leather indefinitely. By the by, on the subject of tannins oak, and particularly English oak, is loaded with them: it's absolutely inimical to steel, something to bear in mind for boxes (and scales for that matter).

Lets rule out a few materials.. polystyrene, lead, stone, bubblewrap, plastic, gingerbread :p

I think wood could be good though :p

Ok.. I'll get my coat... :arrow: :arrow:

... OR, instead of a lift out tray, how about some kind of slot storage in the lid (like a cutlery canteen). For example:

[attachment=0]

(Either solution works for me, but this seems "cooler")

I still haven't solved my razor storage problem, but whilst looking for something on eBay, I found the following pen display stands, which might interest someone wishing to show off their collection:
