There were various rumours flying around at the time, as to his identity. I don't recall any of the suggestions, but I don't think any of them proved to be accurate. In the end, we never did find out who he (or maybe she?) was.

Sue Mucklowe remained unseen but could frequently be heard shouting. She's Kerry Mucklowe's mother in "This Country".
