Acquisitions, 1st September to 30th September 2015

My brush arrived on a similar timetable - under the radar - also a OneBlade razor but got stung for some Schick injector blades.

Did you buy that French soap from the States?

Yes Carl, from Bullgoose Shaving as well. A quick whiff indicates a Brut-like scent - which is absolutely fantastic for me. I haven't tried it in anger yet though.

My goods passed UTR as well - mental note made for future clandestine procurement. Mum's the word, y'know.

Incidentally, the Asylum Brush Works fibre has the most backbone of any synth I've tried - it's also luxuriously soft. Might try it tonight.

Curiously, it says "SAFETY RAZOR" on the baseplate, something which I have never seen before.

Avnish that shavemac is beautiful! Like coffee & cream. I'm wistfully looking at my brown shavemac thinking "why don't you look like Nishy's?" :D
No way Erik, that wooden handle you have looks majestic. Also the knot looks superb, how are you finding it?

I could be wrong but I find the 173 handle type to show off the handle's colour best, amongst Bernd's range.

I still prefer the brown/black which I have coming my way. Same dimensions and knot shape as the brown/beige.

Big spender today. I bought a whole, entire bottle of Brut AS for the princely sum of £2.99 in our local B&M! Very rare that I walk down to the shops, never mind actually go in one so a small personal victory as well (medication helps). Smells good - a little Pinaud Clubman like if not quite as nice. Been a long, long time since I whiffed it. Probably when I was a nipper and my Dad used it.

Not exactly shave related, but quite sharp nevertheless... a folder I was gifted by my father-in-law on a recent trip to Poland.

He acquired it some 35 years ago in a trade, so he had little information about its provenance. The blade is 9.5cm long and is marked KASSNAR Hi-STAINLESS NO. KB. 1652 JAPAN. The handle is stainless with what appears to be walnut inserts, and liners are brass.

If by chance anybody has any more information about this knife or the brand could you please let me know?

... arrived today, this curious box:

Curious in that on the sides of the base, it says Ever-Ready and on the top of the sleeve, it's GEM. Inside, we have both GEM "Double Life" and Ever-Ready "Radio" blades along with a gold/brass Ever-Ready 1912 razor.

I notice that in Wait's Compendium, there is an entry for 1921 for a very similar box under the GEM section. This would appear to be from both camps, together.

I also got an Ever Ready 1924 Imperial Deluxe:

... which is going to want a LOT of polishing to get to where I'm happy with it. I think I'm going to have to get in a bench polisher because there are some deep scratches on the cap of this razor. That, or get a better example head for the kit.

I also got a tube of Jade East shaving cream, which the seller made a big point of how undamaged the tube was ... to simply pop it into a jiffy bag and post it on. Needless to say, it's arrived crushed and bent beyond use for "collector or display".
