RazoR'OC'k-tober (11 Oct)
Pre: RazoRock/HTGAM mentholated lime soap
Soap: Cold River Soap Works "Classic Savon #2"
Brush: Simpson's M6 TSN-LE, 22mm 2-band Manchurian
Razor 1: Gold Dollar #66
Razor 2: Ikon Deluxe OC
Blade: NOS Personna74 (8)
Post: Thayer's witch hazel, followed by Myrsol Agua Balsamica
Very nice first pass with the GD66. Sadly the P74 blade edge is starting to fade.
CRSW is a nice performer. Scent is nearly a duplicate of Wickham's "Garden Mint" but a lot stronger. Overall a very nice Saturday morning shave.

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Santa Maria Novella pre-shave
Soap: NSS Signature Grape & Bamboo
Bowl: Woodhead Tall Large Scuttle
Brush: Progress Vulfix V404 (bodger)
Razor: Ever Ready 1912 + Cadet handle
Blade: Gem PTFE (2)
After: Alum, Santa Maria Novella Pomegranate AS, Weleda ASB

Another crap shave like yesterday. The common element was the Gem blade as I've changed from my 1924 Shovelhead to my 1912 (with which I know I can get smooth shaves). NSS lather was wonderful and I was using a light touch, so I can't blame those. The alum's feedback confirmed it'd been too rough.
So either it's a duff blade or I've lost my SE shaving mojo :(

Tomorrow I'll use a fresh blade with the Shovelhead to confirm whether it's the blade or not.

Keep calm and shave on.

Hi guys (nice to see you, it's been a while - more on my everyday plate nowadays and less time for play :))!
Pre: Sauna
Brush: Polo 8 by Simpson
Razor: Bartmann and Ever Ready for head
Soap: Jabonmans Lavendel
AS: Ogallala Limes and Peppercorns
Edp: Nicolai
Result: Very, very clean indeed :D

So nice and close, God how I really like a bigger full hollow ground blade (I've been only shaving with my Feather for a loong while now, very good shaves but not much soul)!

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage amber handle Made Rite #74 badger
'Webly'/ Gillette Super Stainless NOS (M1 1967)
Xpec SC
Caron Yatagan AS (1970s incarnation)
Caron 'Yatagan' Pour Homme EdT (1970s version)

I gotta bunch of these old blades laying around from the various 1960s years and most are nice ones. I believe these ones today are the same as a 'Spoiler' and are quite smooth and fun to use. Glad I remembered to load one today.

Man, I will be sad when this old Yatagan set is gone. Nice as the current juice is, this vintage stuff is something else. Much deeper woods and celery notes......whew. Saw a 2 ounce bottle of the same vintage EdT sell for over $100 a while back. This NOS set was a one dollar estate sale find years ago. There's even a small bath soap I can't bring myself to open and use......so far.

BBS results,

Martin

Palmolive Stick (grated)
Vulfix 404 handle / TGN 22mm Finest knot
ATT M2 Kronos
Perma-Sharp Super (1)
Speick ASB
Borsari Acqua Classica EDC

As pedestrian as Palmolive's scent is, you can't knock this soap for the sheer quality of its lather. It goes to show you don't always have to go upmarket to get an excellent shave.

Have a great evening everyone!
