S.O.T.D. Saturday 15th June to Friday 21th June 2013 ...

Morning, gents.

Tuesday:

Prep: Claus Porto's Lime-oil face soap
Razor: Yuma, shimmed
Blade: Dorco 300 (4)
Brush: The Soap Shed Super Badger
Shave cream: Taylor's Avocado
A/S: Superdrug Cool Water clone

No problems and an accidental BBS

Prep: hot shower
Soap: Proraso White
Brush: NF Tubby 1
Razor: Super Adjustable (9)
Post: Profs ASB mixed with 444

Wow I've got to say this razor doesn't shave like a Fatboy, winding all the way out was a mistake! Fairly smooth at the expense of four good nicks.

Monday night

Razor : Muhle R41
Blade : Personna Lab Blue
Cream : C&E Nomad
Brush : C&E super badger
Balm : C&E Nomad

Not used the R41 in a very long time and the first time with a new, to me, Personna Lab Blue blade. Very close but a little rough but I think this was me geting some angles wrong on returning to this razor rather than anything wrong with the blade. Nice clse shave though. See how it goes tonight with the same razor/blade combo.

Scuttle: Schwarzweisskeramik
Razor: Bartmann '86' 13/16" full hollow
Brush: Semogue Boar OC Cherry
Soap: Nanny's SSCo. Coriander & Goats Milk
Balm: Woods of Windsor

Warm shower
Hot flannel
DR Harris Arlington cream scuttle lathered
Simpson 'The Hive' Manchurian badger brush
Gillette 1909 ABC pocket OC razor
Sputnik (1)
Cold rinse
Witch hazel
DR Harris Arlington aftershave

Lovely shave, the razor is the oldest I own and has been saved for todays birthday shave. The Hive brush arrived today. It's lovely and quite densely packed with the Manchurian hair.

Warm shower
Proraso pre, green
Simpson's Colonel X2L, Nanny's soft soap, tea tree and aloe vera
Merkur Progress (#3:#2.5:#2), Permasharp (3)
Cold splash, alum block
Clinique post-shave soother

Very close shave yesterday, so only wanted a mild shave today... would have given it a miss but going out tonight. Progress on #3 for first ATG pass, #2 on my lower neck and #2.5 for the rest. Worked a treat.

Going out for a curry in an hour... woohoo!

Prep: Hot shower
Brush: Semogue SOC
Razor: Feather
Soap: LEA stick
AS: Mennen SB
Strops: none
Result: Uberclean :D

I've said it before,if I only was in this for the closest shave, this razor could be "it" :D

Gillette 2-piece New
Polsilver Stainless (2)
Muhle Silvertip Fibre
Barbon shaving cream
Proraso Aftershave lotion
Diptyque Volutes edt

I didn't manage to shave yesterday as I rose early and returned late. Felt like a scruff today. It's funny how I used to go days at a tine without shaving before resigning myself to grabbing the can of foam and a past-it cartridge for a scrape. Anyway, a rushed but solid shave tonight.

Tabac stick
Henk walnut silvertip
Fatboy on 4 (9 very carefully from the chin down. The second chin!)
Schick from 2001 (third shave)
Astra Superior Stainless
Ricardo L'Homme Sport a/s

The Tabac stick, having had no cap on it since around October, has very little scent left, thankfully. The blade did a lot of passes and delivered great results over the two shaves before this but felt blunt towards the end of the first pass. As good as the vintage Schick Ultra Platinum except half the longevity.
The aftershave smells like bay rum and menthol. I'm not usually a bay rum fan but this is not bad and is very cheap.

Prep: Cold Water Splash
Razor: English NEW LC (Rhodium) with UFO Kaiser Short
Blade: Astra SP (1)
Brush: Neep 26mm (48mm Loft) Stone Extra Silvertip #1283
Soap: Proraso Menthol
Post: Proraso Menthol Post Cream
Aftershave: Aqua Velva Ice Blue Splash

A lovely, 2 pass, cold water, face lather shave.

I really like the UFO handle, good balance, weight, grip along with awesome looks.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/Wilkinson Sword Edge (very old ones)
Lentheric SS
Neutrogena oil free moisture
Givenchy 'Xeryus' EdT (old juice)

Popped a fresh blade in the razor after changing out the Personna 74, which was still giving me a pretty good shave after 18 uses. Pretty crazy old blade.

Heh, this Wilkinson didn't really feel any better than the old one, which was strange. It's not my favorite Wilkinson but still a good one. That damn Personna mighta been trying to spoil me.

A real pleasure using this old soap. Man, they don't make em like they usta.

BBS results,

Martin
