XXIV February MMXV Shave

16633176161_c91dcd8354_c.jpg

Second day of my week dedicated to the "Mystery from Argentina".
Another good shave. The side with more expressed blade exposure continues to be the 'mild' one for me and gives me the most comfortable shave.

Razor: Something-with-roller-guards
Blade: Ladas
Soap: Cella
Brush: SOC Boar
A/S: Florida Water

SOTD - Tuesday
Soap: B&M Bay Rum
Brush: Paladin PK-47 2-band
Razor: Mongoose Satin w/Dr. Bomber handle
Blade: Feather Super (9)
Post: Thayer's witch hazel, followed by UK Barbershop Bay Rum
First shave with this brush, it's amazing! Tips are so soft but enough backbone to facelather. This bay rum combo is awesome.

Lovely brush!

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage amber Made Rite #74 badger fine for creams
'Webly/'Wilkinson Light Brigade
Coates lime SC (old stock)
Neutrogena oil-free moisture sensitive skin
Royall 'Bay Rhum' all purpose lotion used as cologne (old bottle with the heavy metal screw on top).

This brush is one of a few deep amber colored vintage ones in the arsenal. Heh, I keep meaning to reknot the thing but am just not motivated quite enough. Ok performance that's nothing special, but I do like the somewhat intense shade of butterscotch that's lots darker than the pic shows.

This cream is good like the rose scented was is. Easy to lather even with a kinda floppy brush and the results look rich. Performance is certainly better than many others and the scent is a mild and pleasant single note one.

The blade is pretty darn good. See how many shaves it provides (on #2 this morning).

BBS results,

Martin

SOTD - Wednesday
Soap: CRSW Select Sandalwood
Brush: Paladin PK-47 2-band
Razor: Mongoose Satin w/Dr. Bomber handle
Blade: Feather Super (10)
Post: Thayer's witch hazel, followed by Penhaligon's Opus 1870 balm/EdT
My wife's birthday today, so I used her favorite stuff.
I don't know if it was because the CRSW soap has so much cushion/glide that it wouldn't let the blade near my skin or because the blade is shot...but it took about 6 passes to get a decent shave.
2nd shave with this brush and it is definitely developing hooked tips.
