Squeaky

A three pass wtg/atg/xtg DFS with zero nicks and only mild irritation on my jaw line. The soap left my skin soft and smooth with a nice vanilla scent lingering, but paring it with my Omega 11137 brush was a poor choice and resulted in me having to reload my brush after the second pass. The PolSilver blade was at the end of its life and tugged a bit more than would normally be acceptable. A somewhat lackluster shave, but I think that I can improve upon the results tomorrow.

Pre: Hot shower and warm water splash
Razor: Parker SRW
Blade: PolSilver Super Stainless
Brush: Omega 11137 boar
Soap: Kell's Original Ultra Aloe Vanilla Bean
Post: Cold water rinse and SAL Alum

This morning:

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: Filarmonica 14 Especial, just under 7/8"
Brush: Simpson Commodore X3 in Best
Soap: D R Harris Marlborough

The best razor? The best London soap? Aye.

merkur hd
personna med prep
muhle silvertip fibre
erasmic shaving soap
4711 AS
oscar for men edt

fantastic shave. havent used a med prep in ages and id forgotten how very, very good they are. first time using the erasmic soap and im impressed, it may be beginners luck but i like it a lot.

After an afternoon visit, coffee and a chat with Sm304, with a bit of swapping of soap, blades creams etc the conversation came around to what people on the Forum use.

Martin's ears may have burned, as would Fido's... Inspired and enabled by Sm304 (who kindly gave me a bottle of Myrsol, loads of Thayers samples, a nice large "sample" of Floid aftershave and a loan of a Aristocrat #16? I used a razor I have owned for ages, but never used before...

Monday

Prep: Run, hot shower
Razor: Steel Gillette Tech head on Webber classic handle
Blade:Israeli Personna (Tesco) (2)
Brush: Simpson Duke 3 Best
Soap: MdC face lathered.
A/S:Floid "The Genuine"

The Tech surprised me, I shave at least 6 days in a row when working and this head could me the answer to my prayers. I get on with most razors (iKon OCC excepted) but most irritate me after a week.

I think I have hit another milestone in my shaving career and realised a "Good" shave does not involve BBS at all costs. The Tech has left me with a no fuss, comfortable DFS. Last week I would have touched up around the jaw and lower neck but extreme comfort over extreme BBS is my new Mantra!

Cheers Scott for the freebies, and Fido, I should have listened to you 27 razors ago :)

Still, it is nice to have choice. Have a great evening chaps...

Gillette 2-piece New
Gillette Bleue Extra (1)
Semogue SOC boar
Vito's Extra Super Coconut
Lucky Tiger Face Tonic
Diptyque Philosykos edp

I need to get this razor replated. I've narrowed my razors down to this New, the Weber, an Aristocrat Junior, and then a US 1950s Flare Tip Super-Speed for travel.

Evening,

Prep:Bath, Bulldog face wash, hot flannel
Razor: Progress on 3 (Astra SP #2)
Cream: Palmolive
A/S: Witch hazel, Forest Fresh and Speick Balm

Only a 2 pass shave today as it's only my second time out with the Progress. Still a great result.

MONDAY EVENING

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: Kai Excelia
Blade: Feather Proguard
Brush: Neep Malachite Aztec
Cream: GFT Coconut cream - scuttle lathered
Post: Witch hazel and Bulldog balm

There is definitely a huge difference between this and my CJB kamisori. The Kai is so much more forgiving and, I would say, a much more precision instrument. Of course it is also hugely more expensive, but I think this is a case where it's worth it.

As I thought, my blade was on the way out. However, I really felt it with the CJB and with the Kai I just experienced a bit of tugging.

I will give the CJB another go, but it might be time to pass it on.

The Neep is as excellent as my other two.

And another very good three pass shave. Not BBS but getting towards it.

Prep: Cold Water Splash
Razor: Weber Bulldog DLC
Blade: 7 O'Clock Perma Sharp (1)
Brush: Simpson Duke 2 Best
Soap: D R Harris Windsor
Post: Proraso Menthol Post Cream
Aftershave: Aqua Velva Ice Blue Splash

A lovely, 2 pass, cold water, face lather shave.

Jeez, that razor is sorta compelling in a twisted unnatural way. Damn it.

Paul, if I was gonna go nuts and use a straight like object, that one looks like a riot. Sheesh.

Man oh man, you is show nuff tryin like crazy to beat my poor monkey bloody. He then takes it out on me.

Prep: Real Shaving Co. face scrub
Brush: Edwin Jagger Chatsworth ebony synthetic bristle
Shaving soap: Erasmic soap bowl
Razor: Edwin Jagger Chatsworth barely chrome
Blade: Supermax super stainless
Post: Crabtree & Evelyn sienna

A nice shave. Once I've got the lather to the right consistency, not too thick due to the glycerine, the shave is surprisingly smooth and close. Not bad for a budget priced product.
