S.O.T.D. Saturday 30th July 2016 to Friday 5th August 2016

Prep - Woods Of Windsor Cedar Woods soap / Pre-lather / 3 min steam
Razor - Gillette Fatboy
Blade - Astra SP (#2)
Brush - Shavemac Raptor 26/52 DO1 3 Band Bulb
Soap - OSP Bay Rum
After - C.A. Trading Co. Dominica Bay Rum A/S
Result - Shaving Nirvana

I have to bid farewell to the Fatboy, it's months rotation is up. I'm really going to miss it as every shave this month has been nothing short of phenomenal, and it's really ended on a high - the best DE shave I've ever had.

After my week is up with the Hone type 15 I'm going to break out my fat boy!

RazoRock Plissoft 22mm
Williams AV Ice Blue cream
Schick I 1 injector
Schick NOS single [ 1- Sweden ]
Alum Rub & Rinse off
Williams AV Ice Blue A/S lotion

My 3rd use of this razor with a different blade each time. Actually felt better today than when used with a twin. The shave went very well being smooth and comfortable , with a very good finish. After the J 3 it may well be the best of my modern
Schicks utilising a single blade , will try out an L type which so far with a " Chick " has not really been a great success.

OSP - Peppermint & Rosemary
Zenith TS506 Synthetic
Ever Ready Natural Angle - Heavy Flat Top
GEM Stainless PTFE #1
Alum > Duru Lemon Cologne
Gillette Series 3in1 Balm
G|Bellini X-Bolt EDT

I usually use one of the Natural Angle razors for the GEM blade on 1st use. I find it perfect for breaking the blade in.
I also 'found' this perfect razor cradle in the hotel dining room whilst on holiday.

Todays recipe of success with 2 days beard growth.
Hot shower
Proraso sensitive pre shave
My Shavemac 2016 brush
TOOBS Eton College Collection cream
My S1 loaded with a Polsilver SI blade (first innings)
Thayers Rose scent witch hazel
Proraso protective balm

I wonderfully smooth shave this morning. The proraso pre shave worked very well despite the menthol tingle and did not interfere with the TOOBS scent at all.

Monday 1st August 2016
Prep: Shower
Razor: Valet Autostrop VC 4
Blade: Valet
Brush: Muhle XL Synthetic
Soap: La Toja Stick Grated
Aftershave: Astral Cream (soft)
EDT: Tauer L'Air du Desert Maraocain

The best of my current Valet shaves so far, fifteen laps on the feox strop and the blade is now better than when I started using it. This Valet was the very last model made and probably, for me, the best shaving model.

Regards
Dick.

Monday 1st August 2016

The one that was mildly menthol (Cream Week)

Hot shower
Ingram shaving cream
Switchback 400 Plissoft brush
Steve Woodhead scuttle
Schick Krona razor
1971 Gillette Platinum blade (3)
Avon Spicy aftershave

After getting a great shave, bowl lathering some very runny Ingram cream I finished off with the Spicy which as well as smelling quite a lot like vintage Old Spice also contains some menthol.

And behold it was good.

image.jpg Good morning to one and all. SOTD 1st August 2016.
Day six using the Hone type 15 voskhod blade 2nd use.
As usual started off with my standard routine leaving my skin nicely hydrated.
Today's shave was much the same as yesterday's, after my three pass W, X and against the grain I still found I needed a clean up pass with this blade, so have come to the conclusion that although a very good blade in my other razors it's not as sharp so not so effective with the H15 as the Astra SP was. Tomorrow will conclude my week of shaving with the Hone and I will be using a Gellette silver blue to see. If that betters the Astra SP.
Still had a good shave dispite the voskhod not being as sharp as the feather and Astra, smooth and irritation free, I am still very pleased indeed with this razor.
Tomorrow I will chose a blade out of the four that will have been used as my favourite for this razor and sum up my feelings about this razor after one weeks trial.
I hope you all have a good Monday and Indeed the rest of the week.
Until tomorrow, over and out!
