A comforting Cashmere shave on this wet weekend. Although I love my two badger brushes, which look and feel wonderful, I have to admit that the newer synthetic brushes simply outperform them and are much less expensive. A wonderful lather created with ease and two smooth passes had the job done.

Razor - Gillette Tech/Razorock
Blade - Blue Sword Platinum
Brush -Simpson M6
Lather - Wickham 1812 Cashmere

First try with the Frankenrazor and an unfamiliar blade. I was bold enough to try a two-pass shave, although I did need a bit of a polish afterwards. Impressive results. The Razorock handle was great… it gave a bit more heft and was eminently grippable (ideal for my arthriticky claws). I did find that it needed a steeper angle, but it was easy to find… the razor is very tactile.

The Wickhams performed well and has a great subtle scent. I could happily buy a full-sized tub of it, but I have other samples I slightly prefer. I wouldn’t want to end up like one of those guys who has 250 years supply of soap… luckily there are none of those on TSR.

Enjoy the bank holiday weekend, everyone.

I will second that the synthetic brush I have is brilliant.

Razor = Shield Stainless
Blade = Gillette Nacet ( 3 )
Brush = Chisel & Hound 26mm V15 Adventure Series
Soap = Cella with matching splash & balm.
IMG_2471.jpegNice chilled out relaxing shave tonights.
iv managed a day off tomorrow & doing the sabbatical and staying off the beer.
I really like these shield razors.
I’m unsure of the name of this one so if anybody knows please tell me.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend

My Shave today consisted of...
Prep 3P Pre shavecream.
Brush Highlander LE2023 Badger.
Soap Zingari man The Watchman.
Razors Leaf & Blackland BlackBird Titanium.
Blade Derby Premium (3).
Post shave 3P cream
Aftershave Once upon a time splash.

Super smooth 3 pass shave today with the BlackBird, the handle is a real design achievement in the way it keeps the handle grippy all the time by allowing any water etc to fall into the grooves and pass out.

The Watchman soap always seems to improve the shave and give off a smooth cutting feeling.
I don't get that effect with the other Zingari soaps, making this one that's going to stay in my rotation and will be restocked when required.

The Highlander Badger Brush is like my Boar and always delivers an excellent lather, they are worth every penny I paid and some.

That's all folkes have a great night.

24/08/24 : Afternoon
  • Razor Gillette Ball Handle Tech (no date)
  • Blade Vintage Waltham Blade CO
  • Pre-Shave Hot Shower
  • Brush Synthetic B&B Chubby
  • Cream Mitchells Wool Fat
  • Aftershave Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum
Its a cold wet Saturday here in Byford WA.
After A refreshing hot Shower I thought what can make this day less gloomy?
So I did a lucky dip into a bag of assorted blades and out came a Waltham carbon steel blade.(pictured)
I load it into The Tech the shave was ok bordering on average as most of you will know The Tech is a mild razor.
And most vintage carbon steel blades don't compare to modern blades.
(In days of old when men were bold........)
1 Pass WTG 1 ATG and a touch up here and there and not to bad.
Even the bay rum didn't sting.
After cleaning up I washed and applied a drop of 3 in1 oil to the blade.
I will see if I can get a few more shaves with some hand stropping.

Any one from outside Australia know what the furry friend is??

(Garry357 I used a page out of your play book

Cheers All

24 Aug - late night shave
Pre-Shave: Cerave soap then TOBS Herbal Pre-Shave Gel
Brush: Semogue 610 Boar
Soap: Phoenix & Beau Tallow Soap Spitfire
Face lathered
Razor: Yaqi top double open comb aggressive slant with Maggard Black Stainless Steel Handle
Blade: Gillette Nacet
Post Shave: Boots no 7 balm

2 pass with the grain and against the grain - BBS except small area of jawline. No cuts but was nerve wracking - especially ATG on top lip.
Working my way through various item s- the TOBS gel was way smaller than I thought when I bought it - only about 30g (thought it was 100g when i bought it!). Would not purchase it again - expensive and not convinced it added much.

7/10 - First proper shave after having a beard for 10 years
Preshave: Hot Water
Soap: Phoenix & Beau Bluebird K7 Shaving
Blade: Perma Sharp ( Never tried before, very Impressed )
Razor: Executive Fatboy on a 3
Brush: Simpsons Captain 2 ( Butterscotch, in Super badger )
After: Creed Aventus.

Note: Did have a few weepers due to it having been 10 years.
